Any Oil Field people here gotten laid off? What have you done to get a job?

So brief background here, I got my PETE degree from LSU and have been working at Halliburton the past 2 years and 2 months as a Field Engineer. Management came in last week and laid off all the engineers in our office except our Lead Engineer, which included myself. I was a little shocked but it is what it is.

For anybody here that has unfortunately lost their job in this downturn, have you managed to find a job in the upstream side of Oil & Gas? If so what did you do to attain a new position in this market? I have updated my LinkedIn (even bought the Premium Version), gotten an account on glassdoor, been looking on Rig Zone and reaching out to my contacts in the industry plus networking, etc..? I know it's going to be tough in this market to find a job especially with only 2 years experience. I have seen quite a few operators hiring for Drilling or Production Engineering Tech positions. Even though I might be over qualified I'm thinking this might be a good route to look at to 1. stay in the industry and weather the storm and 2. It could open a door for me to get in with an operator and get a full time engineer position once the price of oil comes back. Anybody know of this working?

Any type of advice is much appreciated. I'm just trying to think of some ideas here.

Also to go ahead and get this out of the way.....I don't own an F250, nor have I ever bought any truck nuts or Salt Life Apparel, I do own a Yeti though
