It's literally the last brand I'd want to own in the touring sedan market.

I have to admit the architecture is good, I'm sticking with Lexus for a saloon.

(Insert usual snarky comment here about never investing in or trusting my safety to East Indians and/or the corporate successors of the mentality that brought us BOAC, etc..)

Why? Jaguars are great cars, especially the current line-up. The XE is poised to give the 3/4 series and C-class a run for their money.

What cars make up the touring sedan market, in your opinion?

I've seen nothing that remotely compares in luxury in that price range. And this is literally the first time I've ever heard of any racial association with Jaguar. That's a new one to me.

I don't need as much room as he does, but S, 7iL, A8 l, Panamera, Quattroporte...

We have a manual transmissioned, naturally aspirated 5 series and LOVE it.

Same here. I see a lot of black people driving S-Types, but that's a 10 year old luxury car, so no surprises there. I see more black people driving old 7 series and S-classes than I do any type of Jaguar. I think it's just a way for him to segue into his opinion that BMW is a superior product despite his current BMW experience being an '06 530i with a manual trans and the current BMW lineup not being very well received vs. it's competitors.

Yes, I have had 3 XF's and currently have an F Type S AWD. I have had zero issues with any of them. They are great cars and a joy to own.

I'll agree that out of those, I don't think the XJ is best...but IMO it holds its own fine with an S or a 7.

This is how you have multiple Jaguars and never have any problems with them:

Step 1: Purchase Jaguars
Step 2: Have vehicles delivered to your storage facility
Step 3: Drain all fluids from vehicles, remove batteries
Step 4: Place vehicles on jack stands

Profit

I wouldn't buy a current 5, but after having an E12 (1980 528i) I had to have another with the I6 to manual...ours is a 2009 528i, which is the LCI E60. Nothing in their current lineup really speaks to me, though my friend has an M6 GC and its unreal.

I'm a fan of German engineering outside of BMWs...I have a German watch (Stowa) and a German gun (HK)...but still, the transmission in the E60 has an insane feel to it. It's as nice as anything you'll ever interact with. I'll have to see what's available next time I'm in the market...but it'll likely be German as it stands.

Wife has a XF and I have a F-Type R.

Bulletproof reliability and excellent dealer service. They lead JD Power surveys for a reason.
They also have a great track program where you can get instruction from some of the best drivers in motorsports. You can drive the wheels off of everything they sell.

Before I bought the F, I looked at the new Z06, but I'm kinda over shitty Chevrolet dealers. Corvettes are still awesome, it's too bad Chevrolet dealers sell them

I want an F-Type S for a track car. That car has some excellent balance. You can make straight lines out of esses.

The sound, man.

It sounds like on old F1 or LeMans car.

My wife says when I told her about it she thought I was talking about a woman.
