12 robberies? y'all must have been looking for em. I've lived here almost 40 years. Spent many of them bartending. I've had some tense situations, but never Ben robbed. I'm not even sure I've seen a robbery.

(one time, I was high as shite, pulled into a gas station and saw a dude pointing a gun at the clerk. Grabbed my phone, was about to dial 911 and tear arse out of there, when I realized dude was just pointing out the cigarettes he wanted. Does that count?)

As for now, shite is getting out of hand. In some ways worse than the mid-late 90s as it seems to be more spread out. But I also agree that the city has made huge strides in that a lot of bad areas are no longer bad.

Anyway, I'm off to church. We will be walking there after leaving our doors unlocked. Gotta love small town America!

Merry Christmas, mate. (that's root beer ;) )

Can NOPD legally do some plants/sting type operations with officers posing as small weak drunks?

Where's Bernhard Goetz when you need him?

Of course they can but they won't because it would put them in danger

And don't forget the lower 9th.

The issue with the Guard or State Police is money. For real coverage of the quarter you would need at least 60-70 fulltime people and that's expensive. I'm pretty sure after Katrina the State was able to use fed money to pay those cost.

if you wanna move out of New Orleans to raise your kids and have a family in a safe place, I can't knock you

but don't act like there's anything special about Bunkie other than it's in the middle of fricking nowhere and therefore much safer.

I'm just curious ....how many of the "redneck trash small towns" have you ever been in or had any personal exp with?

I get it... These Daily threads about something bad happening in Nola gets you (and a couple others here) all depressed and it makes you feel better about yourself to talk shite about other places.

Perhaps you should channel your anger in a positive way to make your community less dangerous.

Plenty. It doesn't take rocket science to see what makes up 90% of this shitty state.
I grew up in Livingston Parish so I have street cred yo.
I have family who either lives or have lived in shitty parts all over La and Mississippi and I hated going to visit them and I hate the "culture" in those places.

Now go beat your wife and chain your dog to the tree.

I have only been to N.O. once since Katrina. My family has a crypt at St. Roch. Every funeral I've gone to there required a police escort to safeguard cars and attendees. What are the odds that I could safely visit the cemetery now? Serious question.

St. Roch...... Thugs opened fire last night on Daneel Playground. For those who don't know this is a playground on the most affluent area on St. Charles Ave. During the day you can usually find the richest toddlers in the city being attended to by their black nannies.
