If someone who left N.O. in the mid 90's came back to see the N.O. of today, I think they would be fcking amazed.
The bywater, marigny, freret, oak, and even the irish channel have undergone major improvements. I freaking love riding my bike around some of these areas and seeing all of the renovations and construction going on and new businesses popping up all over.
And I do agree with many of the loons I normally wouldn't side with. I'm cool with the idea of the national guard coming into the quarter for a minimum of a year. Put a guy with a big arse gun on every freaking corner from 10PM till 6AM.

I forgot about 2-3 weeks ago I may have had an attempted robbery pulled on me, I literally brushed it off and forgot about it until someone jogged my memory a few days later.
I was at the shell gas station at Elysian fields and claiborne and some guy pulls up on a bike and pulls out his gun (never pointing it at me) and says "hey will you hold my gun". I looked at him and just said "man I'm broke" and turned away and walked off.
Not sure if he was just being serious and didn't want to bring his gun in the station or what.
