Which is a shitty indicator of health if you carry more muscle than average.

Butter and cheese and other fats aren't the culprits

Honestly, "low fat diets" are the worst thing that happened to this country. Little known fact, sugar and other carbs don't carry fat so they can carb load shite and you eat "low fat"

If we can't be honest with people about being fat then how do we stop them from getting more fat.

Yup. I've lost a good chunk of weight since June eating a diet that is 70% fat.

I see the rise being caused by this:

Everyone has to work now. And they have to work longer and harder hours

Gone are the days where no women work and they stay home and make a nice meal for the family

And gone are the days we simply go to work and punch a clock 9-5, our work never stops with cell phones and laptop computers

This causes people to eat quick, filling shitty meals

There are other factors as well, but I think this is the biggest catalyst

"I can't possibly work out because I work too many hours/commute too far. It's my job's fault I'm fat, even though I chose it"

Listen fatty, I leave the house at 5am and get home at 7p, and you know who I see at the gym that late? all of the other people that do the same thing, girls included.

From my experience in healthcare, for every 10 people that say this, 9.5 are fat

BMI > 30 is considered obese. I would say there's a good chance that even if you have "a decent amount" of muscle, you likely have a "decent amount" of fat if you're pushing into the obese range.

This thought process is the same as those 300 pound whales thinking they're a little chunky. Yeah, you're not just a little flabby, you're clinically obese.

Im 6'0"" 168 lbs. Fatty isn't how I would describe myself

Anyways, to my earlier point, if you had young children, being gone from 5am-7pm would make you non-existent in their life

True. The in shape people today are in far better physical shape than the in shape people from the '50s

We have better equipment, access, training / know so much more bout building muscle and sculpting our bodies but as far as our actual health, I think it is debatable... considering 50's foods were largely natural. The introduction of polyunsaturated fats into the US diet was a massive time bomb, now the with mutant, genetically modified food that has taken over our food supply, disease and cancer rates have skyrocketed. We may have better "shape" from sculpting muscles but even then we are probably not in better shape than in the 50's in the big picture. I'd be willing to bet the average active American from the 1950's was healthier in general than most "shape" oriented of us who work out.. environmental stresses, vaccines, and our food supply has introduced thousands of new health risks that didn't exist then. We can live a little longer because medical techniques are greatly superior but our actual quality of life while being kept alive with pharmaceuticals can also be questionable.

But seriously, we need to get our shite together as a society, have some self control, self-respect, and stop stuffing our faces like Roman gluttons with obscene amounts of food. And I don't mean just fast food, even higher end restaurants serve single meal portions that is enough fat for four adults.

Disagree. There are people now who have blood tests done and get completely tailored diets to their exact bodies
