America's obesity crisis appears more unstoppable than ever.

A troubling new report released Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that almost 40 percent of American adults and nearly 20 percent of adolescents are obese — the highest rates ever recorded for the U.S.

"It's difficult to be optimistic at this point," said Dr. Frank Hu, chair of the Department of Nutrition at the Harvard School of Public Health. "The trend of obesity has been steadily increasing in both children and adults despite many public health efforts to improve nutrition and physical activity."

The politically correct movement praising big is beautiful is contributing to it.

Holy shite.

Not just overweight. Obese.

2 in 5 people!

I know some posters in this very site who make fun of obese people. When they themselves are clinically obese

They would say "I'm just a little pudgy", but clinically they are obese

My daughter is in the 10th percentile for weight, but 64th in height. So I'm doing my part to reverse the current trends

That's such bs. It's not even that high in the south, which is much higher than the north.

No it isn't bullshite

Americans think of 500lbers as obese because we have become so fricking fat

In reality, 6'0" 221 lbs is obese......

A lot of people will read my post and be terrified as they realize they themselves are obese

At 5'10", anything over 209 is obese. I'd believe the numbers.

it doesn't have to be a crisis. let people who won't take care of themselves die.
