I mean, The China Study is all we need to know on this subject. Eating clean is almost impossible in our culture and isn't going to get better.

BMI is only one part of the story. Fat % is much more of an indicator imo.

Go walk around the city for a day. How many people do you honestly think are within the category of having high muscle mass and low body fat %?

It's such a dumb argument. The tiny fraction of people who lift regularly and contradict the BMI scale is insignificant.

That video is hilarious.

I wonder how many people were watching the news this morning and were like “Hey! That’s my enormous arse and jiggly arms.”

For real, though. We Americans as a whole are gross. 4/10 people can’t control themselves enough to stay merely overweight. Everything they eat has to be a taste explosion.

And we want universal health care in this country... pay for your own damned coronary bypass you fat, lazy bastard.

Disagree. There are people now who have blood tests done and get completely tailored diets to their exact bodies

Maybe for those who go to that extreme with diet I would agree but we just can't discount the fact almost all of our foods are heavily modified and cancers are skyrocketing in all lifestyles because of it. I take this seriously, I lost my Dad early. He was a former LSU athlete, very large frame, stayed in shape, very healthy diet, ran until his first heart attack at 41. I'm his height at 6'3", eat healthy, and work to keep my weight below 210, and have spoken to enough doctors to know our hearts, even though stronger with exercise, have to work harder with larger than average bulk from muscle. BMI is not always an accurate indicator of health and neither is saying it's fine to be heavier if it is all muscle. Our hearts and organs are still stressed when we add extra bulk to our frame... even when it's muscle. And when you look at the all the studies, there really isn't any clear evidence that strength training correlates to longevity greater than any other generally healthy eating and active lifestyles.

Seriously, it works.

i'm calling bullshite

they use the BMI chart from the 1950's to make distinction.

For me to be my bmi in shape, i would have to take bones out of my body, and possibly a whole leg.

It's horse shite, and the more they can classify as over weight, the more they get on pills. More pills, more $$$ to medical industry.

Ever notice who sponsors the big Obesity clinics? Pharmaceutical Companies.

What does being fat mean? Looking fat? I wouldn't say 99% of guys who are 6'3 205 look fat. I looked like a crack head when I got down to 200.
