Sounds like your buddy is lazy af. Working at Amazon is a smart move for driven and proactive people. Darwinism is our belief that weeds out the shitty workers.

he is brilliant and has unbelievable work ethic. it has nothing to do with laziness

Even the people I know who like it work until 11-12 at night, occasional weekends, etc. It's not for everybody

There's too many damn acronyms in this thread that I have no idea as to what they mean.

RSU = Restricted Stock Unit. It is company stock that vests over a certain amount of time.

How's the work/life balance? Does it vary by position? Back in 2014 I was contacted on LinkedIn about a Sr. Technical Writer position, but I didn't pursue -- not based on the bad press about working there, just way too comfortable at my home office. Also, the amount of listings for that same position at the time made me think it had a high turnover rather than a high demand, and the fact that someone reached out to me about it, and editor/writer positions are notoriously abused in terms of long hours as well as odd hours.

The logistics side is minimal to gain advancement. The'll hire anyone with a pulse with a business degree.

what a ridiculous statement. You sound like a classic engineer / programmer that looks down on anyone without a technical background.

Do you work in tech? If not, then how would you know how Amazon employees function?

I have worked in tech previously. Your comment about them taking anyone with a business degree is bogus. Amazon is quite literally one of the most elite firms in the world and has pick of the litter. It requires much more than "a pulse and a business degree" to be employed.

You see that's how little you know about the Bezos philosophy. What's the first rule of our ideology? Granted, since you're the expert, hahhahaha

You have no idea how our HR function works in regards to our hiring process. However, please do enlighten me.

Literally everything you've posted in here is embarrassingly stupid. I'm not sure how you managed to slide through the amazon interview process...
