Yes, but $742 doesn't matter. If the price was higher or lower then the company would adjust the numbers of shares so that the amount is equal.

Everything I know about Amazon is that it is a type-A, put up-or shut up type atmosphere. I am sure it is amazing for about 2 years but the reality is most people don't want to do that for very long. Most of society wants a life outside of their career.

You get it.
Except you left out the vesting period, liquidity isn't converted right away if given the desire to sell.

I've been through interviews with them and declined the position. Didn't feel like relocating. I do have friends and family that work there. The posts above me are a good description. People either love it or hate it. It's a culture of hard work, accountability and cutting to the chase to deliver outcomes and not caring for touchy feely stuff that other big tech names are known for. If you want a lot of work life balance and aren't driven to move up quickly then it may not be the right fit. If you are then go for it. It really depends on you.

Is it meritocratic? Reward people who deliver regardless of tenure?

Correct. Does Amazon vest at the end of three years or 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 each year?

Or is the vesting longer than 3 years? (that's what I have seen).

Glassdoor is skewed and usually has comments driven by people that were either fired, laid off, or suck at their job and are constantly talking shite. Be wary of that site.

Correct, my point was the price of the stock does not matter when it comes to RSUs. If your company give you $50k of stock, it doesn't matter if the stock trades at $1 or $50k a share.

It's called the art of negotiation when you receive your offer. Have you gone through the process?

I have gone through the process and the price of the stock doesn't matter.

I moved to Seattle 1.5 years ago, I've heard mixed things about Amazon. As others have said, the work/life balance isn't great for many of their employees. How do you feel about the prospect of living in Seattle? The economy here is strong and if Amazon didn't work out you could probably find another good opportunity pretty easily.

Thank you for the offer but I don't feel like I can put out detailed info on the site right now. Let's just say it's on the logistics side.

I was just looking for general information from anyone who's gone through the interview process.

I have no problem with an overloaded work schedule. I have no family/friends in Seattle and expect to have no life for a while.

What matters is I am getting $50k of stock, not that the stock price is $742.

My company used to trade in the $700s and after a split we are now in the $100s. It has zero impact on me because I still get the same aggregate quantity in RSUs.

I'm very flexible at this point in my life and I think Seattle would be a great place to live-for a while. My grown sons are here in TX and I would eventually move back here.

Nope. Neither. Plenty of companies in the Bay Area that would prevent me from relocating to Seattle. Amazon is a top tier paymaster but not the best.

There's too many damn acronyms in this thread that I have no idea as to what they mean.

This. We tried to respond and clean up our company's page on there for a few bad responses but just gave it because it was useless. Given their job title you can generally pick out exactly who it was, despite being anonymous.

People rarely go on glassdoor when they like their companies and jobs. It's only when they're bitter or unhappy.
