Not at BTR. They are contracted by each airline.

Voice text at nearly midnight usually doesn't work well. Maybe I was just trying to imply that the airport was a bitch tonight. The worst part about it is they know planes are coming in and I have to drive to the other side of the airport to get the baggage conveyor All the while two other guys are washing down another plane that was in the main gate. Sat facing the terminal for 20 minutes and Took 30 minutes for them to unload the 24 row regional jet.

I love flying out of Baton Rouge for the reasons that you don't have to deal with the crowd and you can get to the airport later than in New Orleans. On some flights there are actually more options during the day. But unless they hire a few more people it will never get better. And I like the folks there especially the ones at the American airlines Gates. The girl with the squeaky voice is nice as can be, and the African-American baggage claim gate agent guy is good to deal with also. The way the appearance of the place is it seems like you could market it as an alternative to flying in and out of New Orleans more than they do.

They did something years ago that ticked off Southwest Airlines so bad they did not even fly in to BTR post-Katrina.

I fly around 70,000 miles per year, and I think BTR is one of the most pleasant airports around. Security is a breeze, parking is cheap and easy, the place is always clean, and it's easy to get upgraded if you have even basic status with the airlines.

It gets busy before 10AM on Mondays, but security moves quickly...especially after the recent renovation.

Southwest returned to MSY when it reopened and recovered. I know there was an effort to bring a Frontier hub to MSY (and numerous new non-stops), which may have push Southwest into BTR....but Louisiana kind of screwed that up.

Raleigh-Durham is an amazing international airport. Very clean and modern, plus quick to get your bags and through security.

I'll agree. RDU is a great airport. They even have a daily non-stop to Paris on American on a 767.

Birmingham airport is really nice, but we lack direct flights heading West. We have a few season international flights, but that is it. You can get to Las Vegas and Denver, but not to LA direct. Direct to all three NYC airports, several times a day.

I don't know, but wish I did. Apparently SW Airlines has a long memory.

Last time I flew out of BTR the idiot gate agent drove the sky bridge into a wall. Watched the whole thing. Didn't even think that was possible. Shortly after they announced a 1 hour delay and we had to switch gates.

How long will the American flight to CLT last? It reminds me of the BTR/Memphis Delta route post Northwest merger before Deltra gutted the Memphis airport. I can't imagine that route is very popular out of BTR. They have a late night flight inbound that's delayed about 100% of the time.

BTR when the flight not delayed is nice.

Since 2011 I fly out of MSY due to
1. If you choose 1st flight of the morning it is a gamble that the flight will be ready due the plane can be delayed. Instead of trying to place people in the 7 am flight you are basically screwed. In 2011 6 out of 10 1st flights in the morning were cancelled. I had times they finally just cancelled the flight. One time I got my money back for the BTR to Hou George Bush and drove there to get on the connecting flight. I beat the flight I was originally scheduled on due to delays. Their track record is horrible and early morning flights are unreliable.

2011-present MSY 1 out of 30 first flights were cancelled.

New Orleans (MSY) typically less and less first flights delayed. Even if they are delayed or cancelled the airlines work with partner carriers to get you on another flight.

Coming into MSY versus BTR
1. If a major hub is down DFW or Atlanta Hatesfield you are out of luck getting into BTR.

MSY
I had 4 situations Atlanta or DFW was down or flights delayed and flew around them getting back to MSY and the getting a rental car or someone to pick me up to get my car parked at the Baton Rouge Airport.

Then lately tickets were more than $500 difference to go out of BTR compared to MSY.

To me I just rather not deal with higher amount of delays, higher prices, and limited flights out of BTR.
Then with traffic in BTR some times it's easier to drive to MSY.

I actually pay less an arrive on time out of MSY instead of sitting in the lobby at BTR.

I have co workers who flew into BTR a few times that refuse to due to delays. One guy I picked up from BTR and drove him to MSY so he could get home to Dallas on a Friday. BTR the plane was down for maintenance and he would have to wait until Monday morning to fly home on that airline.

Whenver I'm going back to philly or the northeast I always fly through CLT, much easier and faster than flying out of the way through dallas. Never taken that 6:30pm flight, but loads usually look pretty good on it. I just wish they'd get rid of the CRJ and upgrade to a CR7

The CRJ7 is a decent plane. The 9 is too extended and that causes problems.

The 717 is the best plane that flies out of BTR.
