BTR's airport is pretty good for what it is. It's about as easy as an airport can get.
My personal favorite for small/medium airports is Greenville-Spartanburg. Almost all major carriers fly there, the security is super easy like at BTR, and there are actually a decent amount of directs (to most cities east of the Mississippi)
