Looking to add a little insulation on my garage door just to help even in the slightest with the heat. The wifey has me building her a gym in there (despite the fact that we own a gym, but that's a story for another day) and a little bit of cool will go a long way. I was told that adding even the slightest bit of weight can screw up some things. Is there an adjustment on the opener that I can tinker with? And will this affect the springs in anyway?

The insulation that I'm putting is that shiny bubble wrap looking stuff. I think I can make it look pretty clean and neat with that stuff so it won't look terrible

And....as always.....

No pics, assholes, lol

The bubble stuff does work

But that's not enough weight to effect the door opener

Shouldn't be an issue. I had a new insulated door installed a few years back and the opener doesn't work any harder than it did with the previous non insulated door.

there are lots of products for garage doors, they do not effect the motor. Home depot has kits.

The opener has nothing to do with it. You should turn the springs and 2 or 3 quarter turns (I'm assuming they are torsion springs above the door) and you'll be fine. Opener does nothing but attach to door and provide a hand to open it. Springs carry all the load
