If he wasn't such a worthless alcoholic, maybe they would care.

OP. You need to binge watch Intervention. Watch only the alcoholic episodes. Everybody's story is different but they are all the same.

You think 4 night a week is a "bottom"? You will see with that show how far bottom can be.

Always be there to support him GETTING HELP. Nothing else.

The episode with Bret Cansler (season 7 episode 7 maybe) is an absolute must watch. I would suggest his family watch it as well. It is such an excellent episode. (However i cant even find it online to watch or on Youtube. Can the OT find it?)

Bret was a successful and well loved man with a great wife, career and kids. Just a great guy who was loved by his family and friends.

But then his descent into alcohol began which of course leads to losing things like his wife and kids, his career, his health.... he was at rock bottom.

Some people hate spoiler alerts so I hate to post the ending.

Bret's episode on Intervention is one of the most memorable ones

Talk to him about it. He may laugh and belittle you for bringing it up, but the clear conscious you'll have if he chooses to continue down that path will be worth it.

You could drop the word driving from this sentence and there would still be a problem.

AA does work for some. I seen it. That being said, recovery isn't a one size fits all type of thing. There are many different routes one can take.

I drink every day. I don't drink till i'm home and I don't leave once I start.

The stress on my relationship is that I wont leave the house and the ole lady has to go get dinner every night.

You get something out of him being sick. It makes your problem look less, or you enjoy care taking... My drunk buddy and I were co dependent on each other to justify our problems.

Yeah, that was the ending. Esophageal cancer (he had been puking some blood before sobriety) and wouldn't get checked). So he gets sober, looks likely he will be a success, has a great support system and lots of love and support, happily ever after...

He got sober and stayed that way for the rest of his life. He achieved 105 days of sobriety and died. 105 freakin days! His poor kids and family.

But thankfully at least he had that sober time before his death so that he could be able to spend time with his kids and prepare them for terminal diagnosis and tell them how much he loved them and what they meant to him.

Yeah, it was a shocking WTF ending which is why I hesitated to post it.
