This seems to happen regularly on the gulf coast. Finally a reason to go to Galvestons beach.

a friends dad found a kilo of pure, uncut cocaine on Timbilair Island south of Houma/Cocodrie. He called to report it and they asked him to put it in his boat and bring it to them. He said not a chance in hell and gave them the coordinates to locate it

I don't see the appeal of Galveston. Went last year for a wedding, it was not a great place at all.

It's a shitty beach but for people in Houston it's the best within a reasonable drive
