The middle of a nice, heavily used jogging trail.

My favorite part about that is they are sandbagging around flower beds.

This is a picture of the oxbow my parents have a place on south of Natchitoches. Pool 3 of the River is around 38' right now. The 100 year mark is 41.5.

Red river closed to recreational traffic all summer. Gonna be some bank fishing fools all summer.

Another 2-3 ft and it will be over Clyde can't. If it wasn't for the concrete retaining wall under jimmy Davis it would already be over there.

I think the $300K houses are the ones in the back of the neighborhood. You're right about the water front houses, they aren't ordinary cookie cutter houses. I guarantee these houses are close to $1M.

I don't want to know what kind of damage we'd have if it ever got to 45.9 again.

I have to imagine with dams and reservoirs upstream somewhat controlling the flow that will be very unlikely to happen.

Still not sure how anyone would think it's a good idea to build in a flood plain and not put the house on piers or at least building up a good mound for the slab level to get it above the 100-year mark.

That's Cash Point landing on the Bossier side. Would be a party to launch there right now. If we get a big arse rain while the river's up everybody will be in a bind.

This doesn't look like a good summer to get a tropical system that cruises through the area at any point. Water over parkway by sci port and threatening in a couple of the Ramps this afternoon.

It's not over the parkway yet but it's close. the water is coming up through a storm drain.

I imagine you know since you have engr in your username but it always amazes me the people that don't understand 100-year flood.

quote:

A common misunderstanding exists that a 100-year flood is likely to occur only once in a 100-year period. In fact, there is approximately a 63.4% chance of one or more 100-year floods occurring in any 100-year period.

quote:

A one-hundred-year flood is a flood event that has a 1% probability of occurring in any given year. The 100-year flood is also referred to as the 1% flood, since its annual exceedance probability is 1%.

Right I know it's not the river itself but it has the drain backed up already. Looks to be doing the same thing down around the south end of the parkway in places.
