Not sure that you really do.. Plus you can't use the quote function properly.. All your further input will be ignored.

The problem lies with those like yourself who believe that one must choose between science or religion when they are merely two sides of the same coin. Religion is the reason, science is merely the mechanism. The laws of nature are the mechanisms of God through which he made and governed his creation. You ridicule a creation myth when astrophysics itself necessitates a "moment of creation". You meekly assert that that moment of creation was arbitrary rather than necessitated by any outside force. However, every action must have a reaction. There can be no beginning without an end. There can be no moment of creation without a cause to "begin" it. Those who believe that that cause is "God" have no better or worse theory than does Stephen Hawking or Neil de Grasse Tyson.

The sad thing is Stan Marsh from South Park has a greater and more profound understanding of this concept than you do in saying "Can't science be the answer to how and religion the answer to why?"

Of course, that episode illustrated the philosophy that far too many people embrace with their full being, that the only thing that matters isn't just being right, you also have to be a huge dick about it to everyone who doesn't agree with you.

The sun wasn't even created at first, so how would an earth day even make sense at the start of creation?

when that book was written by goat herders, they had no concept of celestial bodies.

For centuries the world believed the universe revolved around earth.
But the sun is a younger star than many, so wouldn't he have created other worlds first?
And if the book is his words why did he not better explain the science of his design?

I can't type Hebrew but you should research it, especially if you are truly so concerned for the facts.

The text reads that these six "time periods" were times of chaos, then restored order.

Hmm, I'm not sure....

I don't think LSU ever had majors for astrology.

An astronomy major would not make this mistake.

yeah, he shot himself in the foot with that line.

I doubt a typo, because a student of astronomy would never make that mistake.

Whichever one you want. I believe it is Christianity, but what the heck do I know? Pick a card, or don't. Just don't criticize those who do or what cards they choose, because in the end, no one knows the answer, at least not yet.

The Hebrew words for evening and morning are accurately translated as periods of chaos and restored order. Thanks for finding the actual text, if not the proper translation

This may be the first useful hijack ever.

I'm glad the admins let us have these debates, but I really hope that one day we can have open-minded debate.

I agree with you that science and God agree.

How could they not? God created, science observes. Seems elementary to me...

I can answer you personally. Because there is power in the name of Jesus. Unmistakable, undeniable power.

Here's the catch though, and to be honest I was caught up on this point for about 15 years....it takes faith FIRST. No exceptions, no other way about it. Without faith, you will see nothing.

We still don't understand gravity, and have a much better understanding of evolution than we do gravity. Yes we can calculate gravity, but scientists don't have a clue why gravity exists.
