This was a well planned out attack. Upscale school in a fairly nice neighborhood. We aren't talking about a so-called BAD school like the one in "Lean On Me"... Its amazing nobody was even aware of what these two were about to do..... And YES this can and probably will happen again... Sadly.....

Has there been any discussion regarding most of what is in the public consciousness re Columbine is made up bullshite?

They were not trench coat, Goth types.

They were not bullied.

They were fair to middling popular.

They didn't target anyone in particular.

The girl that was killed for believing in Jesus never happened.

Eric Harris was just a sociopath and a serial killer in the making.

all of this and the misconception Harris was the ring-leader persuading little depressed Dylan Klebold to kill has lead a majority of the public to be pretty misinformed about 4/20/99

No they weren't. They weren't complete outcasts but Harris was not particularly well liked.Brooks Brown was quite clear on that in the AMA. Harris was an instigator and while the bullying/trench coat mafia narrative is bullshite, Harris was at odds with more than a few people.

Brooks Brown isn't some sanctified impartial source. He exaggerates the same pretty tame "bullying" stories for effect again and again. Harris wasn't some chick magnet Joe Cool, as another author has ludicrously tried to frame it either; the truth is in the middle. Harris was fair to middling popular. He had a cute girlfriend, multiple normal friends and was socially involved. Klebold was not, but that wasn't because he was some poor put-upon loner. He was a mentally messed up rich kid with a private tennis court and an anger problem who intentionally antagonized people and was the kind of guy who when walking the halls would intentionally clip other dudes' shoulders to start shite. He basically ostracized himself.

yeah it's a pretty good read. Best not to take Cullen's word as gospel though. He'll have you thinking Harris was the most popular kid in school and Klebold was nothing but an easily persuaded emo.

Others' thoughts on the book

Has no one really commented on that message board? What in the frick. That is some of the oddest shite I have ever seen.

It was the beginning of the bullying overreaction. However, these two kids weren't school outcasts.

I have a couple of friends here that are also high school class of 99 like myself, except unlike myself, they went to Columbine and were there that day. To this day it still makes them uncomfortable to talk about and I haven't heard them do it in a several years. Not even a mention of it on their FB pages today.

I wouldn't want to talk about it either. I'm sure they see it every time they close their eyes. I couldn't imagine being in a situation like that. Everybody was a target that day....didn't matter who you was or if you knew the two guys. That's enough to haunt anybody I think.

They were bullied pretty hardcore. That school had an extreme bully issue for pretty much everyone.

That's not what caused this though.
