Now that the kid is out, he's gonna win a few million and probably commit a heinous crime that he learned about while in prison during the developmental stage of his life.
This kid is the epitome of institutionalized, and will not be able to adjust to living free. Just a matter of time before what the state created commits another crime

I swear, I basically assume every story I ever read these days has some element of bull shite in it or willfully left out key facts that might affect one's opinion.
I mean, this "poor kid" looks like in all likelihood, he was part of the deed, he just didn't commit the direct act.
That changes the story a wee bit.

yea the least surprising possible update on him is that hes having trouble re-acclimating to the outside world.

You'll be surprised how many judges overlook coached confessions. We allow detectives to get away with so much shite.
Their techniques have proven to produce false confessions.
The CIA developed new techniques which are more reliable and less likely to produce false confessions. Thanks to the war on terror.
Police departments around the country need to be taught these new techniques. Only a few departments have been given that opportunity.

He probably has around a 5% chance of not going back to jail within two years. Just think how much you mentally develop and your social skills change from 14-29. That time period shapes who we'll be for the rest of our lives.
......And this kid learned his social skills in prison. Probably can't read or write very well, doesn't have any manners, curses all of the time, and has had to be aggressive at a moment's notice for 13 years

That money should come out straight out of the force's pension fund and wages of every cop involved should be garnished until the damages are paid
That would most likely violate federal laws.

I think the degree of this guys involvement definitely matters. Your'e right a 14 year old should not be given 10 years for a joy ride if that is all that it is. But why are you "joy riding" in a freshly murdered persons car? This isn't like he took his mom's whip down the road to a buddies house. It is fair to assume that he would at least have an idea who murdered the lady seeing that he was found in the stolen car. If he refused to help with the investigation and clear his name at that point then he deserved what he got.

We don't have room on this board for people who actually read the link to see past the sensationalized version.

So apparently the kid lied, said he wasn't there when the murder happened but he was there when they stole the car
He was found guilty of murder and sentenced but DNA evidence proves he wasn't the actual murderer. The evidence does support that he was there during the attack
