While there isn't much difference between a 17 and a 18 year old, your brain continues to mature into your mid 20's.

No, that doesn't mean that teen agers aren't capable of understanding right from wrong or the seriousness of their actions. However your decision making ability and motivations become much different as you mature.

So yes, punish teens for their actions, but perhaps reevaluate them after they grow up some.

So this isn't some totally random bystander that was snatched up by the cops and railroaded on false charges.

Let's see how many people still want this kid to get his $30 million.

I mean legally speaking, he's probably entitled to some money since he served 13 years and 7 months on a 10 year sentence for accessory to murder. But the innocent victim narrative just isn't accurate.

The cops were doing what they're legally allowed to do. Don't like it, change the rules. At least the kid is free. The system worked itself out

Are you kidding? He's pretty fricking innocent. Copping to going for a ride doesn't mean squat, he just didn't want to risk another trial. Would you take a retrail after you have already been convicted of a murder you didn't commit?

You're a turd

That money should come out straight out of the force's pension fund and wages of every cop involved should be garnished until the damages are paid - if they aren't thrown in prison first.

Need more information. Was he the one driving the car during this joyride? Was he alone? How did he get the car? At the end of the day he spent a little over three years extra in prison. I am hard pressed to believe he should be paid 10 million dollars a year for sitting in prison.

They robbed him of his childhood, high school, college, etc. it will be tough for him to find work until he goes back to school.

If I was 29 and had $10M+ to my name, I don't think I'd care too much about working or missing out on high school.

So when you were 17, you were as smart and understanding as when 30?

Probably would make more sense to segment it to child, young adult and adult

Does it matter?

No, dude. They don't give 14 year olds 10 years for auto theft. Come on, that's a little ridiculous even for the OT.

They locked a 14 year old in prison for 13 years for a murder he didn't commit. Just let that sink in.

Are you even reading anything past the OP? It doesn't seem like you are.

Here is a link to more details of the actual attack.

He and his friends were involved in the rape, beating, and death of a special education teacher.

Keep trying to make him out to be a choir boy that was volunteering at a youth shelter.

bullshite. No you wouldn't. Nobody would. He was completely innocent the first time and he got life. Why risk it? You would have to a complete and utter retard to take that chance with a guaranteed ticket out of prison on the table.

Yes I would. You think this kid wouldn't get a fair trial when everyone would be watching like a hawk since they fricked up his first one?

Doesn't seem completely innocent to me.

Or I'd prefer to not have a felony on my record if I'm as innocent as you think this kid is.

That article was written after a false confession. How are you treating it as an accurate representation of facts?

Taken directly from your link

He gave police a two-hour, detailed statement about the attack, saying he was so high on marijuana he didn't know what he was doing.
