I realize Stephen A uses the "indignant, wronged brother" shtick for ratings, but seriously- how can anyone complain about this?
Sproles was likely to be released by the Saints, because of money and declining production. We all knew that. But he was still under contract before the deadline, and the Eagles offered us a pick for him. IMO, it's win-win for EVERYONE.
Saints- we get a gift 5th round pick.
Eagles- they get Sproles locked up early, don't have to fight off other teams in FA.
Sproles- he gets picked up by a playoff team with an offensive guru as a coach.
I honestly doubt, as a smaller, older player who might have lost a step or two, that he was looking at a better payday than what the Eagles might offer him; he just lost a little leverage is all. But then, he also gained a little extra security by being traded for, and he really couldn't have landed in a much better place in terms of style of play.

Hey I love Sproles and what he brought to the team but if he wants to play the integrity game, consider this.
Fact 1. He is in the final year of his contract.
Fact 2. His production was WAY down this year.
Probable Fact 3. His contract leverage for a new deal was WAY better his year than next -- especially if he again has a sub par upcoming year.
Probable Fact 4. He wanted to be released this year so he could sign a 2 maybe 3 year deal because he knows that leverage wise, he was probably dun next year.
Facts 5 and 6. He has tool and a ho for a wife.
So Stephen A -- why aren't you bashing Sproles for wanting to walk away from his last contract year? I certainly don't bash the guy because this IS a bidness. Darren -- get what you can get. Mickey -- get what you can get.

In everything -- especially punt returns and especially in games against quality opponents

would not say "way off" but declining--i think it has more to do with his size opposed to his production; though, front office probably felt they could get close to that production much cheaper from a player on the front-end of his career versus a player on the back-end of his career.
DS is small and i think SP and ML realize that the road to the NFCCG and SB will require going thru some very physical defenses, and we need a little more muscle--finesse won't get us there.

I dont look at it that way, i was just stating my argument if picks were taken from us
I honestly thing we did sproles wrong, but. ITS A BUISNESS and this move makes us closer to winning a SB so im for it

The question here should be was Darren happy to geaux to the Eagles? As yesterday he wanted to be able to have a say where he would geaux so he wated to be released outright. Why shouldn't the Saints get what they can in return?

Ask Darren if he's happy that he is going to the Eagles.
If "yes," then problem solved- we're happy and he's happy.
If "no," then let him fight it out with the Philly fans.
If he says "yes," but really means "no," then he's "lying" and deserves what he gets.

his punt return numbers were almost the same each year for the Saints. his first year got a boost because he had a nice return for a TD @ Green Bay.

His kick return average dropped by 5.5 yards(very considerable), and despite having 6 more punt returns he had only 11 more yards(1.3 yards less average, which again for punt returns is a good amount). His fair catches also went up from 14 to 21, and half of those he had some run. That pissed me off the most about him last year.

What does it matter if they told Sproles that they were going to release him.. and then changed their mind?
It's a fricking joke and it doesn't really matter.

i hear you.
but having that 72 yarder against Green Bay helped bump that average up his first year.
his return game was about the same to me. I usually just remember the big time plays and that one is about all he showed as far as returning punts.
you have to wonder how many those he was instructed to do so.
I'm not trying to make a case for him.
I just don't see much of a difference there.

It was more than that one. His 20+ yard punt returns were 5, 3, and 2, going down each year.
He had 29, 23, and 29 punt returns. So it going down to 2 20+ yarders this year showed how bad he was getting at it. He also had a fumble.
He had 0 40+ yard kick returns(though admittedly his chance were fewer), and he also failed to even get 20 yards on 4 out of his 12 chances. That's a bad rate.

that's what I'm getting at.
it wasn't some integral part of his game here.

Stephen A. Is about the biggest douche "so called" sports analyst on tv. Trying to make sentences with big fancy words in which he has no clue how to actually do it correctly, just makes him look like a joke. He and Skip have without a doubt the worst sports show on tv, two of the dumbest analyst together equals a joke of a show.
And on top of that, Stephen A. is probably one of the biggest racist on sports television. If any black athlete gets any kind of criticism whatsoever, he goes off. So this is just another example of his ignorance and his prejudice.
