On the flip side

Unger >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Goodwin

Should we remind everyone of the atrocity of pass protection from the center position alone with PFF's scores? -10.5.

The miracle of buying your QB time, he becomes more efficient. So what if the yards aren't the same gaudy 5000+, give me a HIGHLY efficient Brees with with 4400 yards and 8.54 Y/A over 5000+ yards and <7.9 Y/A

no doubt. I think the shuffling is more for post Brees than it is for right now though. Of course they go hand in hand if these guys can grow up fast.

what were the rebuilding points in 2009?

Replaced the offense and defensive coordinators

New commitment to defense and the running game.

Signed Greer and Darren Sharper in the off season to go along with the additions of Vilma and Shockey in 2008

Not to mention the continued growth of Carl Nicks.

From 2008-2009, we completely changed our defense

around how many errors, misteps, and general frickups our management has engaged in the past few years

The front office has completely wasted Drew Breea' talent these past two seasons. And the 2014 draft may go down as one of the worst of any team ever.

Giving Brees time is going to do wonders, and I know he can work with the receiving talent he has.

Granted, I'd feel better about the Graham absence if Colston wasn't so busted up.

not how i define a rebuild. Natural progression. We sign FA's every year, and have changed the def coordinator, what, 4-5x under payton?

I didn't know that signing new defensive coordinators, signing FA on defense to fill draft holes, and developing draft picks= rebuilding.

We had 7 new starters on defense added in 2008-2009 to go along with the Gregg Williams hire. Only 4 defensive starters were on the 2006 team.

That is a rebuild.

anything short of not changing a HC, GM, QB is not rebuilding... typical retooling in NFL... signed lesty.

we gave a huge deal to a safety who sucked and got hurt, and this, along with the other dead money, prevent us from addressing all the holes we face due to "cap cuts" and bad drafting.

i'd still like to know why in the hell he was playing 35-40 yards back from the line of scrimmage against ATL in Week 1.

one of the reasons he probably shined in Buffalo is that they have a stout d-line who can get pressure.

at least he made a play against ATL ripping the ball away from Julio. That play would have probably made it into the short highlight reel for the defense last year.

Vaccaro played poorly last year as well. Im sure they did a few things differently as far as the scheme compared to 2013. But then we still had Harper and Jenkins so I guess Vaccaro could play more in the box?

we haven't been all that great up front on defense the last few years on defense and that will end up catching up with you at some point. Seattle sent us home twice in the playoffs because we couldn't stop the run.
