I honestly wouldn't mind either, but I'm going for jones.

He's the more proven commodity, thus far.

mingo is an "athletic freak", but we've seen these athletic freaks fail one too many times to pass on someone who has proven to be a good pass rusher in a 3-4.

I dont think there is any way in hell that JJ falls that far. if so, he better be in black and gold

Jones, easily.

Mingo has a higher bust factor and is less versatile as a straight line rusher.

But, the argument is pointless considering Jones will likely go top 5.

Mingo.. he brings the speedthat this defense just hasn't had in forever. Its depressing watching Will Smith, Cam Jordan etc chase a qb and never get to him.

I know the 40yd dash isn't a major part of the game as the combine makes it seem, but I still don't think Jones would bring that speed that we need

I'd love to get either of these guys and it's truly 50/50 either way for me.

If I was picking, I'd have to take Mingo based on age and injury concerns.

Mingo is a year younger and hasn't missed any time because of an injury while Jones had to transfer from USC because he couldn't get medically cleared, he missed two games because of an injury and he has a medical red flag because of his neck.

It really is splitting hairs for me though. I think both will be really good players in the right system.

Nvm I'm a fricking dumbass. On the phone and read Jones as Jordan.

Give me Mingo. Much higher ceiling and better frame to grow into. He could become a monster in an NFL 3-4 scheme a couple of seasons down the road.

He probably won't make an instant impact, but it would make for one hell of an investment pick at this spot.

He reminds me of a more talented Chandler Jones coming out.

I think Mingo is a bigger risk of bust, but has higher reward potential. Jones is great, but his injury history scares me.

I can just picture Mingo running sideline to sideline with that freak like speed. Also coming at the QB on a delayed blitz off the edge.

This is exactly my thought and why I want Jones. I think Jones will be a monster this year. I think Mingo could by next year. I'd be happy with Mingo, but I really think Jones is a game changer.

eta: and why I think SI is full of shite and Jones will be gone by 10.

on a defense that needs speed like the Saints, you take Mingo. I think it's a no brainer.

The Saints already have surehanded tacklers. They need speed off the edge.
