i think starting-quality centers are found pretty often in drafts

Both Mike and Tony hate it on PTI

Maybe it's a great move for the Saints

i think it's just a sign of the depressing time on the horizon. unless we luck out in free agency again, we're going to be really bad under this regime post-brees. they can't assemble a roster for shite and can't manage the few guys they draft who shock the world and turn out to be good players

the big question is if we could have gotten more last offseason, which i'm pretty sure we could have. that hurts
All they can do is deal with what's in front of them. It's obvious (at least to me) that they went all in last year because they thought Graham would continuing trending up (which he hasn't), and they felt the defense had turned the corner in 2013 and would at least maintain that level (it didn't). The Saints were the fashionable preseason NFL Super Bowl pick, and no one saw the implosion coming.

My big beef last year wasn't the Graham deal, it was that they didn't do enough for the OL.

And re: Graham, it's easy to MMQB that. Yes, it would have been nice to get something for him then without breaking the bank for what turned out to be one year. I personally believe they would have been better off in the long run to let him walk, but I don't get paid to run the FO.

well i get the sunk cost fallacy and all that, but this regime continues to frick up again and again. yes in the vacuum of this trade, we can only look at what's available right now. however when looking at the big picture of this team, we can look at everything.

some were hesitant b/c of our OL and defense (Rob Ryan's Ds always slide after a good year 1)

we broke the bank on a safety last year, though

I'm still not sure how I feel about this trade yet, but at least it isn't as bad as Foles for Bradford

Yea, I just don't see how a center and 31st overall pick is the best value on the market for jimmy Graham.

I'll be honest. I don't know how I feel about all of this. As a Saints fan I just hope this works out.

I'm not sold on what we got for him and am dumbfounded that it happened this year. But I'm still taking this stance too.

Unger does make our line elite again. Brees will actually stay upright when he passes.

We are trying to look more like the 09 team not the 11 team. The 09 team ran the ball and was top 10 in the league in rushing that year. That's what we need to build around.

The days of Brees throwing it 50 times are over. We can't win games like that anymore

Unger is just a center now?

Geez. Sounds like he sucks. Good thing all those beastmode runs were not up the middle.

how is Seattle gonna utilize Graham?

he's not a good blocker and they are a run first offense.

I wonder.

he'll be a helluva red zone threat though.

I'm just saying this was my initial line of thinking. I know Drew was on his back a lot, and know that Unger is needed. It's just been a little hard to swallow and I'm skeptical. But still hopeful because I don't get paid to be an NFL GM.

Unger is an all-pro. He's a stud. But people assume he's some bum that can be replaced by a 5th rounder because he's not a brand name player like Graham.

People automatically assume the move is dumb because we lost Graham. So people wanted us to keep Graham and not make any moves and be 7-9 again.

our offensive line which was clearly our weak point on offense last year.

There are still some outlets reporting "multiple Picks" coming our way. I'll wait and see the Saints press release.
