The big picture Im talking about is in the past, not the future. Mickey Loomis is still our GM
Loomis has been the GM for a while. What is your actual point?

Can't change the past. I think this is the right move though I don't like it very much. If we are going to get back on track, the FO has to adapt and learn from their mistakes.

And I can get on board with that.

They still want to believe though that they did make a big reach for Ingram in the draft.

our drafting, especially early, has not been good under loomis. i just jumped in but that point has to be made

the big question is if we could have gotten more last offseason, which i'm pretty sure we could have. that hurts

We are slightly following our 09 plan and not our 11 plan, offensively.

Run the ball. Have more quality WRs. Have a great offensive line. And don't let Brees throw it 50 times a game. More like 30. Save his arm

I don't think it was a horrible trade, I just don't see how NO gave up a 4th RD pick and only got what essentially is a 2nd RD pick.

Exactly. Everyone keeps saying "Unger and a 1st...fap fap", but they don't seem to mention we're giving up a 4th and that 1st rounder is #31.

I like getting rid of Graham, we should have done it last year and gotten a better return. But I hope Unger stays healthy and maybe the Saints turn that late 1st into a few more picks unless they have someone they're really targeting at the end of the 1st.

I hate people that say this. He had tunnel vision cause he had no one else to throw to, and honestly still doesn't.

How much of that had to do with time to throw/pass rush and how much was it due to poor receivers?

I'll be honest. I don't know how I feel about all of this. As a Saints fan I just hope this works out.

I would say that they are seeing the big picture, though there is no reason to really celebrate this. Just hope that in the future we look back and see what we were able to get because of this trade and are happy.

as i go back i see this. the question is if we could have gotten more last year

didn't the packers also draft their starting center and center of the future last year in like the 5th round? why didn't we do that? wasn't that around the area we drafted the LB who got cut last year?

It's not a 2nd though. It's a late first round pick. The fourth is unfortunately a relative early 4th, but still a 4th. Even if it was the 1st pick, there is no guarantee it would work out for us. We will have to wait and see what we do with it.

I like this trade. JG acted like a bitch last year, his attitude sucked. Getting a great center will help exponentially.

It's called trade equity. Our first round could potentially be quite entertaining.

LOOMIS DOESN'T DRAFT THE PLAYERS

Becuase we suck at drafting more often than not. Which is why I'm not thrilled about this move. Ireland might have a better handle on who will make this team better. Last year's draft was a joke after Cooks and excluding Sunseri.

Now JG has to play a physical SF twice a year.

I don't believe anyone is scared of the 49ers anymore.

I think so. We would have gotten a higher 1st and then maybe a 2nd/3rd rounder. We wouldn't have given up a fricking 4th, that's for sure.

Can't remember his name but there was another center drafted in the 2nd or 3rd who started as well and it was someone people on here were calling for. I like Unger, but this isn't as great of a return as people seem to be making it out.
