Yea, its not like the Saints haven't tried to bring in players. They've been cash strapped for years and brought in some really good players. Hard to forsee an All pro in Byrd just crash and burn like that.

What needs to happen is the saints need to hire a coordinator who is actually a good coach instead of a good motivator. Williams and Ryan are both good for getting the most out of people for a limited amount of time, then crashing and burning once the emotions run out. Same with Rex Ryan

I think Lofton is better than Vilma was.

Lofton is a better at stopping the run, but when it comes to covering in the slot Vilma is much better. At least he was in his prime.

Also, don't hate me for saying this but would Mike Smith be a good option for us? If I recall, when he was DC at Jax they had a pretty good defense in most of his years there.

Maybe if Payton's stupid arse gave Ryan something to work with we wouldn't have this problem. Payton shouldn't have any issue with the way the defense is playing

basically the same players from last year that were a top 5 Defense. WTF are you talking about

Marvin Lewis *Crosses fingers

I don't know, at this point its pretty discouraging going through coach after coach. Maybe a college guy might be the way to go.

I'm not sure. A Defensive coach that has a pretty bad defense on a yearly bases scares me lol

Very true. Although, I thought Atl had 1 good defensive year when they went 13-3?

Yea, Maybe he's just not head coach material. If he's just focused on that side of the ball then maybe. I'm open for all suggestions at this point.

Mike Smith is a defensive-minded coach?

You'd never know.

All signs point to Dennis Allen. But if like us to look at Mike Nolan. Doubt anyone from Atlanta survives this season. I'm also not sure if Perry Fewell survives in NY.

Also... Bobby April for special teams coach.

Also also... Kromer back for OL coach or Tony Sparano maybe.

Top five defense and added an all pro in one of the weakest areas from last year.

The only thing i can come up with is chemistry. i think KV said they're are no vocal leaders in the locker room. that is a damn shame.

As long as our coach and GM dont take the draft seriously and ignore depth and positions of need in free agency, no DC will help us.

The absence of Cam Jordan from a performance standpoint has really impacted the entire defense this season

What examples do you have of them not taking the draft seriously? We've drafted tons of defensive players.
