To be fair, how many good linebackers have the Saints actually had under him? Lofton may be the best.

You forgot about Vilma. Also, Fujita wasn't that bad, but the rest were pretty terrible. However, coaching makes a huge difference with LBs. Notice how SF always has good LBs. Thank Vic Fangio for that.

Saints defensive efficiency this year is 31st in the league. Just ouch.

Actually wouldn't be that bad of an idea, but I thought Vilma was going into broadcasting?

He's be really good either way. I just always saw Vilma coaching.

Yeah he would definitely fit in as a coach here very well.

couldn't agree more. they seem to be able to plug anyone in that spot and not miss a beat. Correct if I'm wrong but the 49er's 3 starting LB's have missed the majority of the season? can you imagine if that happened to us? holy shite.

If all the blame falls on Ryan, despite injuries and poor personnel decisions, whose fault is it that the offense is almost as worthless? Payton's just looking for a scapegoat.

I think Lofton is better than Vilma was.

The defense has sucked all season. I also think Payton has fallen off from where he was a few years ago

I mean, statistically we are ranked pretty high. While I don't think the offense is as good as the number shows I'd hardly say they are on the same level

I don't know what's going on behind closed doors, but it's obvious that there is a disconnect there. I guess I won't hate Rob Ryan leaving, but if you're Sean Payton you have to take a long look in the mirror at your own playcalling on offense.

Saints need to clean house. Payton down. No fire same olé shite. Haven't been able to make a 1st and goal from inside the 5 for years. Super bowl spunk is gone time to move on. Drew included.

This is comical. You do realize we were 11-5 last yr. And the last sp coached team before that we were 13-3.

I realize it's not the same level, but we've seen this decline starting last season. As you eluded to, much of that offensive rating is fluffed with stats from garbage time.

I don't see how it can all be on the d coordinator when a d goes from top 5 to bottom 5 in one year after losing what appeared to be mediocre guys to free agency and some to injury. Maybe this is another knock against Payton's talent evaluation skills.

Maybe if Payton's stupid arse gave Ryan something to work with we wouldn't have this problem. Payton shouldn't have any issue with the way the defense is playing. It's been like this his entire tenure. 4 different defensive coordinators in he last 9 years. I think the problem lies with Payton.

Well, the defense was good enough with a certain d coordinator. That just didn't work out, gotta find something similar.
