Not shitting you

Eta
@RapSheet: From what I'm told, the meeting between Sean Payton and GM Mickey Loomis is over. Belief on why it took so long was compensation discussion

@RapSheet: Sean Payton's status is still in limbo. And it may not be decided tonight. But, presumably, answers are coming for the #Saints.

I beat twitter nana

Compensation? Like 8 mil isn't enough for 7-9 or 8-8 seasons?

Why would the Saints involve Payton in what compensation they should receive for him?

Is this Rapaport?

I think the issue is whether Payton would accept a "trade" to another team that guts its drafts to get him. Less talent at his next stop.

Sean can't be privy to his trade value so it must mean his contract.

Sean doesn't deserve a raise or extension. The draft is not completely his fault but he had to be behind a bunch of the free agent moves. The trades (yes, I think ingram/cooks was worth it now) seem to be fine except for some of the lower round deals.

HIs defensive choices of coaches and philosophy (yep, he set the tone) alone deserves shame. Not to mention he should have stopped the bounty bullshite when the league told him to cut it out.

I like this quote from Morstead on all the rumors...

quote:

“I tell people all the time, I’m a fan that happens to punt,” punter Thomas Morstead said. “I love this team and love this city. And I’m excited to see all the different things that could potentially happen. Obviously it seems like there’s more rumors swirling this year than normal. But whatever happens is gonna happen, and it’ll be exciting to see what happens.”

He is going to find his own team to go to so compensation has to be discussed. If the Saints are asking a 1st and 2nd then with that information is needed. Then Payton can sell the deal instead of Loomis. Works great for the Saints. I would however only give Payton 7 days to get the trade done.

He probably wants to get some payments made under the table so he can have alimony decreased. Deferred compensation or something like that. All these reporters are grasping and making up bullshite. They should be held accountable somehow.

A meeting about compensation makes 100% sense.

Why would Payton want the team he is going to be coaching this year to sell all of their draft picks for him. Makes zero sense to try to get the team you inherit to sell the farm. Rapp is full of crap.

So the compensation on his extension? I could be down with this. Lock him up for another two years.

I mean Payton isn't the one with the leverage here. If I'm Loomis I say too damn bad. If a team wants to pry a Super Bowl winning coach away from me, you're ponying up.

What leverage does Payton have to have any say in that?
