Toon was returning to the place where his dad was a star. The guy basically grew up there. I think it's clear he was not focused for that Jets game, and the result basically ruined his whole season.

So I just clicked on the article, which as flimsy, and watched the video, and this is grade A hackery. He just said they drafted Brandin Cooks, and Toon isn't guaranteed a roster spot.
So that means Toon is on the bubble?
Does anyone thing that King does any type of serious football analysis? He's a commentator with a lot of connections. The guy came to one practice. He's not overly familiar with the roster. Do you think anyone on the staff was chatting him up? I mean, he had quotes from Ryan and Johnson, but it was of them yelling at their players in practice, not talking to Peter King.
Come on people, think. Toon is not on the bubble. By all accounts, he's the front runner for the #4 wr spot.

would that not mean he's dropped the consistency issues?
Not necessarily. He was inconsistent throughout college @ Wisconsin. He had his best year of his career there as a senior after a poor freshman year, better sophomore year, and poor junior year. Relegated last year after poor play, and I know the foot injury in 2012 slowed him down, but he wasn't on the 53 that year. Correct me if I'm wrong...
Anyone in a Saints Jersey I'm rooting for, and I'd be more than happy to see him on the field if he has taken a step in the right direction, but that's a bigggg step in improvement IMO.

Payton said it was just a matter of things being crowded at the position.

Oops, I was thinking 2012. That list is correct, but we're still missing one, right?

Toon not being guaranteed a spot, in short, he may be on the bubble
I'm not saying I agree with him but that's how I took it

Fair enough.
I think he was stretching it though. I agree with him not being guaranteed a roster spot. I said that before camp started Colston, Stills and Cooks are the only sure things.

Last year we only kept 4 active WRs on gamedays outside of one game. Only time Toon was active was when Moore or Colston missed time.
Now you can make an argument that he couldn't overtake Meachem for the 4th spot, but he was never in the doghouse or lost playing time because of poor performance like many claim.
Meachem just had the advantage of knowing the play book very well, having chemistry with Brees, and being a good blocker.
If he can't overtake Meachem this year then we should be concerned. Last year was basically his rookie season.

Did Peter King go to a Zephyrs game and steal a foul ball from a child? He has a history of doing that
