We shored up the OL with Ram and added a dynamic 3rd down back in Kamara on offense.

We added the top CB, a ball hawk S, a LB who, when healthy, was very good and a RDE who has potential.

Brees should be chomping at the bit for 2017 with the offensive additions in AP and the draft.

BLACK AND GOLD SUPERBOWL!

Okafor isn't playing LB for us. He'll be a rush end like Kikaha and Gwachum.

This. He's 6'4 260 right now and will likely be heavier by training camp. Probably 265 or 270. His hand will be in the dirt. He might take him some getting used to though. Idk how often he did that at Texas or with the Cards

I also wouldn't be surprised if we continued to shop around for another CB.

When asked if the Butler trade was dead Loomis smiled and said, "We'll see"

It might not be Butler but maybe someone like Orlando Scandrick or something. I have a strange feeling we might add someone from the spring league too.

I'm getting more optimistic by the day.

I think we got a good bit better on the defensive side, and the exchange of Cooks (quick strike guy) for Peterson, Kamara and an improved O line, makes me think the offense will be better. We'll still be able to score a lot, but we'll be able to do so a little more methodically.

Just a little better... 3 games come to mind immediately: Boncos, Raiders, Giants.
Take those 3 (imminently possible), and this team was 10-6 last year.

Then, the Falcons- people talk about their defense, but we scored a lot, just gave up more. Control the ball more, contain them a bit more, we might add another win; 11-5 then.

This Saints team is close. Won't take much to push it back into serious contention.

Staying healthy and getting a quick start is something this Saints team needs.

If we can be injury free and be 2-2 or 3-1 headed into the bye we will make the playoffs

This would be awesome, but we'll have to see come September.

With so many new additions and not the greatest of early schedules, I could see a typical Saints slow start. But if team can gel by the bye week, I think the back-end of schedule could see winning 9 of 12 games.

Good offseason for the Saints, but NFC South will be the best in the NFL. Could be vastly improved and still go 9-7.

You are EXACTLY one of "those" LSU fans, Mr. Travin-Dural-Is-The-Only-UDFA-With-A-Chance-To-Make-The-Team.

And there's nothing at all wrong with that. LOL

I'm really not. And I didn't say only. Or that he'd make the team. I said I think he's got a shot to make the practice squad

That's why I think it's important to start off well. Get some things to go our way for once. If we can be 3-1 headed into the bye then we can get hot down the stretch. We've shown to be capable of that

I stand corrected.

But you're really not? Maybe just a little, "Elleshoe"?

and the Panthers game on Thursday night @ Carolina.

I think that game was the most livid I was at Payton out of all of last year.

the blocked kick in that game was the key I think. There was a 10 point swing there.

same thing in the Giants game.

The Broncos game was just a fricking joke at the end.. almost at the level of the Cleveland game in god damn 1999.

3 impact rookies at positions of need (lattimore, williams, and AnalZone).

I flew back from Philly with Joe Vitt last year and the thinking is Brees had three good years left, so now we are down to two. Considering that the future is now this draft makes perfect sense.
We need contributors now.

At the league meetings Payton said Brees told him he has 2-3 years left (I thought he also said after this, meaning 3-4 total).

Despite how he feels about thinking he can play until he's 45, I don't think he wants to play that long.

Definitely can see us trying to grab that QB next year (and Payton admitted if not for Lattimore and KC we would have Mahomes right now), or at the very least in 2019.

Analzone was the only pick I just didn't like. Sure IF he stays healthy its great but he never has, I doubt that changes once he enters the NFL.

other than that I think they crushed this draft

Media types still seem to think Butler is in play, but having already given up a 2nd in next years draft not sure what the compensation will be.

Analzone's last injury was a broken arm, which won't affect his play long term. Nothing to do with the other injury.

True but these things can never be predicted unless it's a recurring thing.
