"Profootballtalk reports LSU G/T La'El Collins "plans to sign with a team after he is cleared." It's really Collins' only option, so it's not surprising. Collins is meeting with Baton Rouge police on Monday. Assuming that meeting goes the way it's supposed to, he could have an NFL team as early as Monday evening."

From my understanding UDFAs can only sign for the minimum. So this is not what he wanted. He had no options left being blocked out of the supplemental draft and next year's draft.

However he does get to choose his team if he is cleared.

Yes he is.

If this is true his agent was on his game more than people think.

He is ALL-IN for sure. We have all just been paying attention to CSPs comments on him. I wonder what other coaches with guard need have been saying. Stay close to home, or GET THE F@#$ out of here after all this mess?

And he can get a new contract after two years while drafted players have to wait 3 years (according to PFT).

I'd love to have him. But I assume he'll go somewhere with a clearer shot at a starting job so he can cash in quicker.

I think the saints are probably already on this.still have a hole at G. For all we know the Saints were gonna draft him, and he told them he would sign with them once he was cleared. Keep in mind UDFA usually gets a 2 year contract. When is Brees' contract up? 2 years.

Clearer shot??? He would be the day 1 starter for Saints at OG.

Telling him you want him at guard may not work either.

Wouldn't he be starter at guard day one? I would think he'd have a good chance to take it from Lelito

100% chance he beats out Lelito. Plus hometown area team which may be a plus

Well, he knows we have two returning starter tackles and took another in the first round. So he will have to choose to be a guard here to sign.

If that's the case then I will not be shocked if he is a Saint, if the legal stuff is cleared.

A new contract but also for the minimum. Drafted players now get four year contracts. Other guys can sign for different lengths but you are an erfa until you hit four accrued seasons. So it's still minimum money.

Short version, he has to wait for the money whether he got drafted or not.
