Can I get a footnote on this and what teams didn't regret their franchise QB leaving?

Favre got followed up with Rogers, ok. Montana got followed up by Young. Who followed up Young? What about all the crap that Miami has gone through after Marino? Bills after Jim Kelly? Bulger did ok after Warner left, but only for a year or two, then it's been a shite show. How many 1st Round QBs have died in Buffalo, Jacksonville, Chicago, Oakland, Cleveland and Cincinnati? Everyone remembers Ben Rothlesburger, but nobody remembers the six years of Kordell Stewart before him. There's no guarantee after your QB leaves. That's why they make so much money now.

yep...

And it isn't even JUST the historically shitty franchises that have had this problem...

So all we need to do is find Aaron Rodgers, Steve Young, or Steve McNair and we'll be okay?

There is a potential starting QB sitting in Nashville who in the right situation could be great.

Look, I know ppl are freaking out because we are 0-2 and lost to the Bucs at home. But to insinuate that there are other QB options out there better than Brees is just ridiculous. There are many more teams out there much worse off than us at QB. You can't ignore the fact that Brees is declining but our offensive line has been ATROCIOUS... People seem to forget how Brady had a slump when his offensive line was shitty.

someone should put together a list of all the QBs drafted or signed since Drew came to town where the teams that drafted them were hoping they would be their next franchise QB, and then we can all look at the list and decide if that's a lottery we're excited about playing right now.

Ask and ye shall receive. Here are the first-rounders since Drew came to town:

2006 - Vince Young, Jay Cutler, Matt Leinart
2007 - JaMarcus Russell, Brady Quinn
2008 - Vanilla Ice, Joe Flacco
2009 - Matt Stafford, Mark Sanchez, Josh Freeman
2010 - Sam Bradford, Tim Tebow
2011 - Cam Newton, Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder
2012 - Andrew Luck, RG3, Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weeden
2013 - EJ Manuel

I didn't do 2014 or 2015 because the jury's still out.

Nice...

But then I would probably make another list that includes starters who lost their jobs or back-ups who got a chance to start and looked good... guys like Matt Cassel... who got picked up by teams looking for a starting QB and hoping to get lucky the way we got lucky with Brees. (could probably put Matt Flynn on that list too)

Most of them didn't work out that well either.

And the only one that would be lateral or upgrade to brees is...

Ryan, Flacco, and Luck

Yeah. I rather not have to find one.

Free agents would be harder to quantify. A first rounder is obviously supposed to be a franchise player but you can't tell from a list of free agents. Maybe they were hoping for a long term starter, or maybe they just wanted a placeholder.
