The article he's referencing doesn't actually state what he is saying.

Coach had the chance to watch him from our perspective on tv last season. He was just as frustrated as the fans.

Mark Ingram playing with third string

quote:

According to Larry Holder of the Times-Picayune, running back Mark Ingram has been working with the second string offense.

While Darren Sproles and Pierre Thomas get the first team reps, Ingram seems to be slipping into running back oblivion.

2nd string is now oblivion?

I have no worries that the best runner with play this year. CSP giving runs to MI just to try and get him going are over.

Whoever wrote that is doing a huge spin piece. First it says second string in Holder's quote and second no one but the guy who wrote the article said he's falling out of favor.

And let's not forget that Payton rotates almost everyone on offense and defense.

I sure as hell hope not. With Sproles being used as a receiver on the regular, Pierre and Ingram are the top two guys. They better hope they stay healthy or we might be hurting from that Ivory pick. (I'd still make that trade every day to get Jenkins, just unfortunate.)
Hopefully we see another Joique Bell emerge in preseason Bc Cadet brings nothing to the table IMO

Also agree with this. Early on he might script some series for each back but I think as the year goes on if Ingram isn't producing with more consecutive carries he'll see much less time.

There is so much wrong with it.

I'm glad it appears payton is not doing what he did his rookie year announcing him as a starter without competition.

Everything I've read so far is that Ingram is in great shape, finally looking and feeling healthy and is moving around really well out there.

I don't know what this is about. It's news to me.

Me too.
I think Ingram will do better with competition.

But to assume that he's sucking because he's on second (or third) string at this point is foolishness.

For Ingram to have anything but a solid grasp on the first string job at this point in his career for a 1st round pick is sucking arse.

Maybe so.

But I'd still like more info about his performance this season.
Better than crap speculation from some random site.

This another huge reason I can't wait for pre-season. There's so much damn competition everywhere we pretty much just have to trust the writers and coaches in what they say. When we start seeing live action, we will really see who separates themselves.

On a separate note, I have a feeling Payton was pissed at how little Thomas was used last year. I have a feeling he's going to let him ride if he starts getting hot unlike Carmichael who would just yank and pull aimlessly
