Hey, I'm an optimist.

Besides, I give Saints players and coaches the benefit of the doubt.

Payton praised him last week for how good of shake he was in and how he looked quicker

But wait he's an SEC running back he is supposed to be so good. Dude is average at best, terrible first round pick.

For Ingram to have anything but a solid grasp on the first string job at this point in his career for a 1st round pick is sucking arse.
It's OTA's and minicamps, brah.

Ingram has showed nothing, not even a flash of "damn did you see that"

And cursing him out for attending a college football game.

it was never an attendance issue, it was a behavioral and performance issue.

I'm just saying...Jason Smith was the first team left tackle the first day. Then Terron Armstead, then Charles Brown. It's OTA's. And if you think Ingram would be first string in the first place, you're stupid.

Which, I'm pretty sure up until now, you are. But I digress. The Saints aren't a typical offense with a typical #1 back that will get 30 carries a game. The NFL is hardly that kind of league anymore anyway. No wonder they run Thomas and Sproles first string. They pass about 70% of the time anyway. Not to mention on the day this was written, who's to say they weren't installing passing plays and situations and that's why Ingram was third string?

IT'S MINICAMPS AND OTA'S, BRAH.

This isn't a Mark Ingram knight post, it's a use your goddamn brain post.

To me it's funny, Bc most people are saying the same exact things about Ingram now, as they did about Reggie back then. Hopefully they have learned some perspective there.

ETA: I know it's not the same exact situation, but pretty similar. While Reggie may not have loved up to #2 overall, he was a key cog in our Super Bowl run. Even then I thought all of the bust talk was ridiculous. Now, even at 22 overall, Ingram is really starting to look like a bust unless he starts kicking some serious arse.

So its a stupid assumption to assume he'd be first string even though he's led the saints in rush attempts his first two seasons, been generally granted starters status ever since he was here and partially assuming Ingram should be hitting his stride and improving and Pierre should generally be possibly losing a step by now to Ingram... but i'm the stupid one?

Reggie was one of the best backs in the league here and elsewhere with what he excelled at. Can't say Ingram is near the best at anything.

Reggie Bush was feared by defenses, always had to be accounted for. Ingram not so much. Guy trips over his own feet and is always taken down by shoe string tackles

Drafting MI in the 1st round was a mistake. Hell, drafting any RB in the 1st is a mistake.

My biggest beef with last season was Ingram was used in all too typical situations at the beginning of last year, only to have Ivory get playing time and light it up in the same situations. Then, miraculously, old Mark steps it up.

I think hes lazy.

I know, Bama, Saban, ESPN hates LSU, Bush's fault, Dottie dropped it on purpose.

Payton will limit PTs reps bc he is known to wear down. Ingram will still get significant carries just aid in wearing the defense down for big plays later in games.
