Brees doesn't want it this way, I'm sure. He said to Jazzy Jeff (per Twitter) that Manning would have just crushed it had he played the 3rd quarter.

Rules wise, it should be reviewed, like every thing is, per Elias. If they deem it a pass, so be it. Good job Peyton. Dude is a baller and records broken by him doesn't diminish Drew setting it. Just like if Brady had broken the consecutive TD streak, which will be up for grabs by Peyton next season, if I understood what I read.

All they would need is seven yards removed. You all would be okay with a post hoc review for seven yards if Mannings is overturned? They would have to check every single spot to be sure also

i believe, generally speaking, this happens weekly anyway. it would be a bit out of place to do 2 years later, and totally absurd to look at the spots, as where the refs put the ball is what was gained on the play. what would be out of place is not changing this from a pass to a rush simply to preserve a record... it would be switched any given week.

So it still means the number should be 54 and not 55.

Im just stating the fact that they suck his dick and probably wont change this one either.

The NFL cannot take away a touchdown after the fact. This is a lot different as it would just be changing a pass play to a run play with no impact on the score. There are many controversial touchdowns that the NFL admits were a mistake but do not and cannot correct after the fact. Seahawks/Packers game last year with the replacement refs comes foremost to mind.

all the tainted titles and records, none of which are really tainted, are infinitely better than the zero records and titles held by the Falcons.

Congrats on a 4-12 season. We managed to win 7 without our head coach and the worst defense in NFL history. Get ready for years of the same. You don't just pay any QB $100 million. At least the ravens got a title before they doomed their franchise.

I really don't.

Brees' completion % record is more impressive, as is his consecutive games with a TD record.

Also, the fact that he's thrown for 5000 yards in a season FOUR times, when no other quarterback has done it more than once, that's pretty damn impressive.

I agree that both of these are more impressive than the yards record. The single season touchdown record trumps both of them as it is the pinnacle of QB records. If Peyton throws a touchdown in every game next year, he will also have the consecutive games with a TD record in the last game.

no it doesn't.

well it does if you're one of those LSU Manning fans who hug his nuts because you really enjoyed "The Book of Manning" special.

"The Book of Manning" fans turn a blind eye to the fact that AT LEAST 15 of Manning's touchdowns this season came during garbage time and/or were 1-2 yard stat padding touchdown passes that should have been a run play.

Manning is the only QB to throw screens on the goal line. Only one.

not at all and not the point.

however Manning was the only QB this season to repeatedly do it in the fourth quarters of games when the Broncos were already up by 3+ scores.

It's already been ruled on the field. Let it go.
