last year he was held out of camp, and then practice 2 days a week due to the knee troubles, but he made it through 16 games.

Bad move. Don't sign him. The Lions' fans are only too happy the guy is gone.

Lions fans are stupid though, so you have to temper it.

But if you go look it up. They say all the same stuff about him that we say about Malcolm. Main thing he misses a lot of tackles, doesn't follow thru with his tackles.... and so on

Would this be considered an improvement over Jenkins?

PFF ranks him the #11 safety in coverage...Jenkins was #58.

...Jenkins was a little better against the run.

would be an upgrade, imo.

Yeah Jenkins has always been pretty bad in coverage as a safety(much better one on one). The few times I saw Delmas play he was very fast to the ball and had pretty good coverage.

Not sure why people think he's bad. And don't compare Lions fans saying a guy is bad on defense to Saints fans saying it. We got very used to bad so when we say it we mean bottom of the barrel. When most other teams fans say it they just mean he isn't playing perfect.

delmas has knee issues, misses tackles, and doesn't play the run well.

Teams ran it on us, but it improved in the 2nd half of the year. I'm on the fence about this one. I really want a safety that can cover (jenkins and harper were pretty bad), but I'm not sure if our front 7 can stop the run as well as our DBs can play against the passing game.

...Hicks, Jordan, and Bunkley were all solid against the run.

We need better run D from the linebackers...all of our linebackers were below average according to PFF....Victor Butler ranked very well in that area, however, in limited snaps in 2012, so hopefully he can bring some improvement there.

...also, I'm a big fan of Yawin Smallwood, ILB from Connecticut....would like to get him if he falls to the 3rd or 4th round.

i collectively grouped the DL/LBs together for sake of separating them from the DBs.

The LB corp. could definitely use an upgrade (esp. after that carolina game where their LBs were FLYING everywhere), but we're stuck with ours for another year so I don't think us reaching for a LB is going to be it in the 1st or 2nd round.

I do worry that once RBs get into the 2nd level, bad safety play (angles) are gonna hurt.

Smallwood is probably in for a tumble down the boards after running a 5.03 (or there about) 40. He could probably be had in the 5th round now. From everything I've seen of him, he plays with good speed and I think those times are a fluke.

If we have to rely on the safeties to stop the run, we have major problems.

We used our safeties this year to stop the run last season and were a top 5 defense...

We play our safeties all over

$3.5mil max and no Saints shows how hard they pruning the cap. The again, maybe he just wanted to be in Miami. He did go to high school at North Miami Beach.
