No thanks. We need blocking. He can't do that. He's also a whiney little Bitch
I was really just kidding. Would have liked to see us sign Gresham.
And agree, we need blocking.

Now that that is over, i could be misremembering, so i really would like some examples of him being a loud mouth off the field, especially prior to the contract thing
He always seemed like a pretty good guy off the field. Never in trouble, good hobbies, good story, etc

The Green Bay game looked like the Saints/Patriots game.
Take the sideline route for example. Safety had blanket coverage to him. He didn't even try to catch the ball. He didn't try to make some kind of deceptive separation (think San Fran Hail Mary). Didn't even mask the fact that he wasn't even trying.
"This guy is covering me. frick it. I'm done." We've seen that before.
Oh, but they're going to kill the Bears Sunday, who look like a complete lost cause and give up passing TDs in bunches. So this will be the week he has 3 TD catches and they probably don't even need them anyway to beat this team.

I swear this trade made both teams worse. Don't hear of that everyday.

It seemed like defenses figured him out,
Yea, they figured out he got soft when he got paid.
So he carved out his niche as a big, tough pass catcher taking the Shockey reigns, then when he got paid he turned into a primadonna who just wanted the rock. Now he has to be a real tight end and he's got something to say about it.

If you mean just in the sense of losing what Graham did for us, you we may have "lost", but when you take into account how well Unger and Anthony are playing we clearly won (so far) in who we have now vs. who they have now.
Looks like Brees really was relying way too much on Graham the last three years though. He has no idea where to go with the ball and lost all of his rhythm.

Not Unger's fault that Zack Strief sucks at his position.
Strief struggled against Tampa but he isn't even the biggest issue. It's the two turnstiles to the left & right of Unger that's the problem. Chipping by the backs & TEs could have been an option to help Strief Sunday if the guards weren't leaking pressure right up the middle. Evans & Lelito run blocking is awful as well.

Is no one going to say it?
I'm going to have to be the one?
Alright.

Prepare yourself for a flurry of downvotes with zero explanation of why you are wrong.

Let's give Seattle a 3rd rounder for him. Greatest trade and re trade in history.

I'm not sure Graham was a loud mouth prick but there were reports of a diva type attitude from Graham. I can't find the exact Chris Mortensen article about Graham not wanting to be hit at practice but this article mentions it. There was also the selfish dunking penalty last preseason that obviously got under Payton's skin.
quote:
For over a year now, there has been a seemingly never-ending stream of reports that those of us in the Saints media have heard repeated time and time again (fairly or unfairly) regarding Graham’s toughness — or a perceived lack thereof.
So, sure enough; when the ESPN Insiders’ Chris Mortensen was asked why the trade was made, he shed some light on just what may have caused Saints brain trust to broker this deal and move in a new direction.
Mortensen stated that there were reports that Jimmy was a locker room disruption, and that he wasn’t too happy about receiving the money as a TE, instead of the money he would have gotten had he gotten his wish and been designated as a WR before last season when he tried to argue against being designated a TE in contract negotiations.
quote:
Then came the real bit of a shocker that for me personally, is another reason to consider why Graham got traded.
Mortensen reported that it had been said that Graham “didn’t like to get hit or ‘touched’ in practice.
quote:
It obviously suggests that we don’t always know what’s going on behind the scenes and behind the closed doors of an NFL locker room. But when you look back on the 2014 season and Graham’s performance in them, it starts to make sense.
Graham’s biggest critics have labeled him as “soft”, and privately Mortensen said, the Saints were also concerned about his mental and physical toughness.

Evans was actually very solid against TB and Ari in the pass game. Lelito and Strief struggled pretty bad against TB. I thought it was Armstead giving up the left side pressures but it was Lelito.

No Evans was not. Look at PFF thread.

We knew McCoy would strike at some pointed. He lined up straight up on left guard Tim Lelito on third-and-4 from the New Orleans 30.
Former LSU standout linebacker Kwon Alexander dropped into coverage, allowing center Max Unger to help on McCoy. It didn't matter. McCoy was too quick and powerful for Lelito and Unger and split their double team.
McCoy flushed Brees to his right as Henry Melton, who beat Evans, closed in. McCoy was credited with the sack.

Oh wow Evans got beat on one play he stinks.
I didn't say he was perfect. Go look at the pressures/hits/sacks. I think he gave up one pressure all game and that was it.
Edit:
Just checked. Evans was actually our best lineman last week in regards to pass protection and pressures. He gave up one hurry. Armstead gave up two, Lelito gave up three and a sack, and Unger gave up a sack. Strief was just bad.

Yep, Evans was just great against Tampa. We are all still waiting for Ben Watson to become that pass catching force too.
Posted on 9/23/15 at 1:23 pm to LSUZombie
Well Jimmy is right. I know everyone wants to hate one eh dude b/c of how it went down here but did you see them play Sunday?
One pass caught, one other thrown his way.
He saw the ball twice in a game vs Green Bay. Are you fricking kidding? TWO balls thrown to a that guy??? REALLY?

He wasn't spectacular or anything, but he also only gave up 1 hurry

His run blocking is his biggest problem. He's still decent at times in pass pro.
