John Jenkins?

Kenny Stills looked good at times. I think he could have a nice future here.

Rest easy my child, armchair GMs on a message board have no sway in the war room.

Also, Armstead started a playoff game and is the starter at LT going into the season.

We had a good draft last year.

Vaccaro, Armstead, Jenkins, and Stills all stood out, and that was without a 2nd and 4th round pick.

Last year's draft could go down as one of our best ever.

Here's what I do before a draft. I come up with a list of the top x players, with x being the pick number we have in the first round. Then I subtract the number of players that we won't pick that will be drafted before our pick. For this draft, I subtracted 2 QBs and 2 Safeties, which leaves us with 23.

Off the top of my head, here's my top 23:
Jadeveon Clowney
Khalil Mack
Greg Robinson
Sammy Watkins
Mike Evans
Jake Matthews
Taylor Lewan
Aaron Donald
Eric Ebron
Darqueze Dennard
Brandin Cooks
Odell Beckham Jr.
C.J. Mosley
Anthony Barr
Marqise Lee
Kyle Fuller
Jason Verrett
Justin Gilbert
Zack Martin
Ryan Shazier
Jeremiah Attaochu
Kony Ealy
Dee Ford

These players can be substituted in this list as well:
Cody Latimer
Stephon Tuitt
Bradley Roby
Morgan Moses
Louis Nix III
Ra'shede Hageman
Xavier Su'a-Filo

There are guys that will be available to us at 27 that will be very good in this league. We'll be fine.

We really do. I just love watching it and always want more picks when in reality more picks does not equate to better players.

Better to grab two impact players than 6 players, the majority possibly gone in 3-4 years.

the Saints certainly CAN afford to give up draft picks to move around

Yep. We did a great job in free aganecy and are a pretty deep team. Just need to add some pieces and 2014 is shaping up to be a special year.

Talented team with depth at many positions, if we move up for "our" guy then we can afford to.

I'm not excited about the guys projected to be available for us at 27.

Projections don't mean shite. There will likely be quite a bit of maneuvering in this draft,(i'm thinking especially near the end of round 1), due to the QBs not being highly rated enough to be picked early and teams not wanting to wait till the second round and possibly miss out.

I have a feeling the Saints will make a move and not end up with the 27th pick. Whether that be moving up or trading back, I don't know.

Not buying the hype and bullshite anymore. Moving it back was a BAD idea. Johnny Football's up. Johnny Football's down. Johnny Football met with this team. Johnny Football met with that team. Johnny Football might be a Cowboy. Johnny Football might be a Saint.

frick Johnny Football and frick the NFL Draft Hype Machine.

Wake me up when the Saints pick--like last year when everybody lost their shite because they didn't pick Jarvis Jones.

I come to the Saints Talk board admitting that I am not extremely knowledgable on this years' draft, and despite admitting that I'm sure I will catch some hell.

As a longtime member of this board, I ask this pertinent question. " Are you seriously asking for intelligent answers from members of this board ?"

Exactly.

The draft is for NFL GMs to shite the bed more often than not and to give hardcore NFL fans something to watch. No one knows what these players careers will end up being as. If the NFL GMs don't know, no one knows.

The truth is the Saints don't have that many holes. If they can get 2-3 of the better players in the draft, it is a success.

True we don't have many holes, but we do have upcoming contracts that we can't afford and some age on our roster than needs replacing and what better way to do that than in "the deepest draft in years."

#27 appears to be a tough spot unless somebody drops to us. I can see the Saints trading up to get atop WR or CB or trading back into the 2nd round & using that pick on Marcus Martin.

I agree there aren't that many spots open. The problem is that it looks like the QBs won't be coming off the board early and that will eat up CBs and WRs before #27. I don't think there will be too many teams wanting to drop to our spot without a ton of picks in the mix (the trade charts may not be a good barometer of what it will take to make a trade up in our case).

Bill Polian was on the NFL radio channel just a few minutes ago and said it's tough moving up in a draft when you're towards the bottom...unless you want to give up "a bunch of picks". He's convinced that a starting WR can be found in 2nd round; he's not sure the same could be said about CB.

Last point, Polian thinks Mosley will go in the first 12 picks..."only 3 down ILB in the draft".

I used to think Polian was an NFL genius. I'm almost 180 on that now.

I'm with Matt Moscona - I'd be ecstatic if we got Lee.

Verret or Shazier - couldn't complain

Moseley would be tough to stomach because of, well, you know
