Grayson is safe for sure. At this point I want RG4 as the backup with Grayson as #3. After tonight I would be open to just Brees and Grayson but need to see more. McCown would have to show something big in preseason games or practice to justify keeping him.

Without Brees we're in trouble. Use the roster spots for other potentials.

I agree that McCown doesn't make it. No way they cut their 3rd round pick. He was drafted to replace Brees in 3-5 years.

did the ball slip just a bit on him? I think it might have; otherwise he might have screwed himself a bit.

Gotta think "the QB of the future" has a better arm than that

But he only threw a 55 yard Hail Mary, he sucks

I think they keep McCown over RG4. There's more to being a back up QB than just being a back up QB. They have to watch the plays and be there to dissect them for the QB when they come off the field. Not sure Grayson or Griffin is ready for that yet.

No, they weren't. Chase was an undrafted free agent, who looked decent (but probably not as much potential as Griffith).

Grayson was a pretty high draft choice, with Griffith still on the roster. You have to figure Grayson is Payton's pet project.

No. Chase Daniels on the other hand was a HoF lock

After watching the game I do like Grayson's game. He has good size and is mobile with decent footwork and he had a nice touch to his passes. One thing he needs to work on his release. We've been spoiled with Brees' godlike release time and if Grayson could speed his up a bit I think he could develop into a solid QB.

He was able to step into it, and he looked like he was trying to throw it as far as he could.

If that was his best effort at a Hail Mary, he's got some legit physical limitations.

I still think the ball might have slipped.

I dont agree that he'll be a special player tbh. He could be above average at best in 4 yrs if he stays that long.

Tbh it looked funny coming out and it had some huge air under it. I doubt that's the farthest he can throw. Some high school QBs can throw farther. You don't get to the league throwing Max 55. If this is this guys biggest problem we will be ok.

I mean again look at it. It was wobbly and had so much air the camera had to zoom out twice

Agreed. Griffin was decent, but there's no way the cut McCown, IMO.

They will keep McCown and Griffin. Grayson will be on IR for this season. This is the most likely scenario.

Bingo.

IR for a hangnail.
