been kicking it for 10 years now. so far so good.
yes the time will come where it hammers us for a season, but good drafting helps mitigate that

Tom Brady, Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Andy Dalton, Nick Foles, Marcus Mariota
What could go wrong?

ESPN is saying we take a 21.3 Million dollar dead space hit if he walks.
LINK
Gonna be hard to start the bidding under that unless Drew REALLY wants a championship.
realistically, letting Drew walk closes a window. How long it would take to open another depends on what we get at QB play.

Like Brady, Brees' contract will void after the season, with the Saints on the hook for $21.3 million in dead money on their 2020 cap. If Brees isn't on the roster by the first day of the new league year, the Saints will eat that penalty for years of saving money on his deal. (The figure above is calculated with that $21.3 million on the books.)

I’m sorry but I kinda think he is worth 30 mil.
His is still top 8 QB in league

Don't apologize. He is worth 35mil based on what the damn market is for QBs. Ignorant choads here think in terms of 2010 when 20mill was bank breaking, but that shite is history. If Goff gets 33.5, then there's no way you pay Brees equal to or less than that.
It's called math and markets, idiots

With the expected CAP increase it may not be that big of a deal.
Anyways, the most sensible approach here, which I think even DB would accept is to give him a respectable base and incentivize the contract with performance bonuses (both personal and team focused). Obviously, the largest being post season success.
I know DB wants to win and win another championship—with the Saints.
Nonetheless, the overall panic I’ve heard from many is silly; especially, those calling for T Hill to be the starting QB are laughable. He is exciting and he threw on long completion. One!!! I would even argue that the completion (though under thrown) was more a result of surprise that he actually threw the ball rather than running the ball.

No. He’s earned a contact that matches this seasons productions and a projection of next years production. Would you order from a restaurant that was rated 5 stars, 5 years ago, when 50 people have gotten food poisoning within the past 6 months?

If Brees makes 30 million, worth it or not, the Saints will not make the playoffs.
Let that sink in

So, the last 2 super bowl winners, Brady and Foles, were paid 23 and 22 million, looks like a good benchmark for Brees.

What is the cap hit if he does not re-sign? I thought there was some backend cap regardless.
Posted on 1/10/20 at 1:04 am to boudinman
This organization is full of idiots if they pay him 30M next season. He was full on throwing ducks with a noodle arm last weekend.
