I love Brees. I want Brees to retire a Saint.

But if he signs for more then $20M then he doesn’t give a single frick about winning another championship or helping out the team or the franchise. So frick him

Dak can throw further than a yard per million dollars though. Brees is lucky to get ball 40 yards downfield

This isn't the point. We have Brees, he doesn't need to break the bank any longer here. If he is the leader and true man we all think he is, then he would do what is best for the team at "this" point in his career.

We all know if Brees wasn't an option, then of course we would have to shuck out that type of cash for a top flight QB, but that isn't the case right now today! Just my two cents.

Does not jibe with:

You want 2019's second best rated QB to take a major paycut? Are you serious right now??? HAHAHAHA. You're fricking clueless.

Tell me which QBs on this list should be payed more than Brees in 2020. Not only that, tell me why Brees should drop down into the lower 30 QB salaries.

You people are seriously delusional.

I think he should line up at the 10, throw a ball as far as he can and then divide that by two and that's his salary for 20 and 21.

Or take his 2019 win total and triple it

Because throwing a ball far wins championships? I guess Mike Buck should be in the HOF?

Or combine his win totals of 2017, 2018 and 2019. Yeah, that works as well.

Drew Brees: Paying a Salary of $30 Million per season is ludricrous

You do realize we'll have $21mil in dead money if he's not on the roster next season, right?

So you can pay Brees $30mil, or some 3rd string QB level player $9mil and you have the same amount of salary cap tied to your QB.

But hey, let's go with that 3rd string QB, right?

we're still paying the same dead monies if he resigns with us? I'm confused what the dead money ramifications are if he signs a new deal, same monies get respread over life of new deal?

Per Barnwell:

quote:

If Brees wants to come back, the Saints will likely hand him another multiyear deal that voids out into a one-year contract, which would save them from paying those dead-money charges.
