Never had a single problem with Cox. Call them up and ask them what they would offer to get you to switch from DirectTV. I call them every time my offers expire and they bump me down. Running around $135/mo. for cable + HBO/Showtime + 2nd fastest internet.
FWIW, Cox is the #1 major internet provider when it comes to not throttling things like Netflix. They had a graph on Reddit concerning Netflix speeds with each provider over the last 2 years. Cox was at the top at an increase of 43%, which smoked the 2nd place (31%). Over half of them, DirectTV included I believe, had their internet throttled into actual decreases.
I would at least look into other providers and see what else they would offer you to switch, acting as if you are looking around because of the problems.

I've got 9 recievers with DTV and now no Fox 8 which is a big deal to me.
I also have the premium package.
Is it really worth it for me to threaten to cancel and at least try to get the Sunday Ticket for free, or get some kind of reduction on my bill?
It would be a huge pain in my arse if they called my bluff and I had to change over to Cox or Uverse.
they will bend over backwards for you. i already got sunday ticket max for free from a previous call and made a call this morning and wound up with all movie channels for 3 months, a $60 credit and a $10 credit

I tried the cancel approach and got nowhere. Was told by the gal that she'd email me the cancel confirmation. When I called back the other times I played the Obama "unfair" card and it worked a charm. Roll with that

I just got off the phone with direct tv. If you go to directvpromise.com it says we will be able to see the game this weekend!!! The guy I just talked to said that they usually do this when a deal is about to be reached!

Raycom Media is denying DIRECTV customers and some of its own most loyal viewers access to its local broadcast stations unless they pay more than double just to receive the same broadcast shows that remain available over the air for free. We will always work to protect our customers and prevent them from enduring any unnecessary interruptions, no matter how brief. We appreciate their patience since it has a direct impact on their bill. Despite Raycom’s unnecessary blackout, NFL and college football fans can see all of the first few week’s action uninterrupted, and the majority of ABC, CBS, FOX and NBC series won’t premiere for several more weeks.

Had to get my antenna back up and working anyways. With the way these afternoon thunderstorms are blowing in I am covered either way.

And how exactly is that going to happen if a deal isn't reached?

So if you have Sunday ticket, can you still not watch all of the games that come on fox?

So I took you guys advice on calling. Got a guy named Chris who…get this…is a Falcons fan.
me: I won't be able to watch my Saints. Cancel me please.
him: I understand why you're disappointed. I'm a Falcons fan and I won't be able to watch them either.
me: O'rly? So what motivation do you have to help me, being how the Saints have owned the Falcons since before my kids were born?
him: Hahaha…I know man. It sucks…er, um..it's terrible sir. We can't touch the Saints and I don't expect that to change anytime soon.
But he did go on to offer me Redzone for the year and 25 bucks off my bill for the next 6 months. I took the deal. He said he fully expects this to be resolved very soon, if not before the weekend and would actually be shocked if it wasn't.

I think I've talked to him before. Young black guy? He was awesome.

If he was black, I would lose every dollar I own betting on white. Super nice guy though.
He's def young.

Ok. Here is my update. So I called Cox and ordered cable/and upgraded my internet to premium and scheduled them to come out this coming Monday. Since I had already called Directv once about numerous issues including the loss of CBS, they made me a few offers that I posted here the other day, but I declined and said I'd think about it and call back. Well, I called Directvs retention dept this morning to legitimately cancel and pay the ETF, but she said she wasn't going to let that happen. I said, "excuse me?" She then said being that I am a premier account holder and valued customer I was entitled to some shady discounts that not everyone can get. She then said tell me everything you want. So I said fine. I want all the rooms with a connection in my house to receive hd tv. And I want the small am21 module that connects an hd antenna to the box overnight to me. And a new dish because mines cracked. And my bill to be under 110 because I pay 60 for cable internet already.
This is what I got:
DVR, 3 mini genie, 3 hd boxes for a total of 7 boxes
Premium package with all movie channels
Am21 module to connect hd antenna for missing locals (module allows over air hd locals to show up in guide and be dvr capable)
50 dollar credit
New dish because the kids broke mine (but it still works)
Free installation this Tuesday
Final price 106 per month.
- So with Directv and premier internet with cox (50mbps), I'm at like 168 per month with 7 rooms.

Wait. I just called Cox to cancel the cable install but keep my internet upgrade and she said, "oh, looks like I can still give you the promotional upgrade we were offering." It only cost me 5 dollars to upgrade.
So my Directv bill is 106 total for 7 boxes and now my internet is 53.99.
So grand total of 159.99
