I'm still getting WAFB in Watson (which is BR) even though I have a channel 9-1 right under channel 9 that shows the Raycom disclaimer.

did you actually turn on WAFB? it should be a black screen saying the channel owner has removed it from the DTV line-up... along w/ some weird musack

frick yes. I just checked and it's out. Calling to cancel right now. It was on last night. The wife said they cut it off at midnight. Just didn't check because that disclaimer channel has been up there for a while.

DirecTV must be assholes to work with.

They have a new disagreement every week.

To those of you calling in, the cancellation department will offer the best retention deals.

Its almost comical the way DTV only gives the cancellation dept the authority to give the good deals. This is my typical convo with DTV every 6 mo or so when my discounts expire:

Me: i would like to see about getting the same discounts i received when i initially signed up.

Rep: I am sorry sir best we can do is... (Crappy stuff)

Me: ok when is my termination date?

Rep: i will xfer to our cancellation dept

Cncl Rep: How can I help you?

Me: my bill is to high and I really want whatever...

Cncl Rep: lets see what we can do for you. Sir i can give you the discounts you received for another year and Sun ticket. Is this acceptable?

Me: yep.

Is this going to affect LSU and other sec games on Cbs as well? Surprised no one is talking about it on the rant.

Trust me I tried. The woman even told me switch providers.

You need to get to the retention department. Call up and choose "remove or cancel" as your primary option. Don't mention anything about the FOX situation until you're on the line with the cancellation person. They have more authority to hook you up than a run of the mill customer service rep does.

The best I got was 15 bucks off of my bill. I will miss LSU games on CBS. I will buy HD antenna from Sam's club. They are on sale for 49 dollars.

I know Cox is actually more expensive. I've see a lot of people talking about this, just haven't looked into it. How many channels can you pull with an HD antenna? Do you just use the tv sets channels to tune in to local with an antenna?

You get the ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX for sure but the rest depend on where you are. I have about 30 channels.

Most TVs will just autotune the channels. Just select Antenna setting.

Soooo I called the cancelation dept and I got the sunday ticket and redzone for 19.99/six months rather then 39.99/monthly...small victory but a victory nonetheless.
