I think Bill would be happy to keep Butler out the AFC and that matters a bit.

I honestly don't think Bill GAF where he goes.

Well even if the Texans offer more in a trade Butler will have the final say on his destination because he's the RFA and it seems like he won't be staying in New England. Hopefully the visit Thursday goes well.

yeah, he doesn't. And I'm sure BB and Bill O'Brien are still friends.

Bill is going to do Bill things.

Saints will offer 2nd and other (maybe mid-round next year). Pats like to stack picks.

I wouldn't get into a bidding war with Houston, though. Make them an offer. And wait. I'd be fine keeping my #42 overall and not paying 15mil per year.

Does Houston have a 2 this year? I think they send one to cleveland, while clearing 10 mil from Brock.

I don't think NE would trade for future picks over present ones. Brady is great but he's 40.

people need to remember, this 2nd round offer isn't on table unless butler agrees with houston on long term contract.

Rap should know better than to think they would go through all the contract negotiations without talking trade with the Patriots. Use common sense.

Recent Pats trades:

Chandler Jones: 2nd round pick, he still had his 5th year option year left.

Jamie Collins: 3rd Round Pick, Had 3 months left on his rookie deal and then needed a new big deal

Butler is a guy with literally no time left on his deal, and will immediately need a new deal. I think a 3rd round pick is enough.

I think the Pats would rather our 2nd this year(it's a pretty high 2nd rounder) than the Texans(a likely playoff team) 2nd rounder in 2018. We could even throw in a 2018 mid round pick as well if we had to.

We're in a damn good position & should be the favorite to land him imo.
