Harris show: It was another solid practice for wide receiver R.J. Harris. His standout moment came when he caught a pass down the sideline with one hand over a defender. But he stood out several other times, winning both on deep passes and in traffic.

Looking good for RJ Harris. We most likely only have 1 WR spot available(assuming Coleman doesn't get cut). I'm guessing Vincent Brown is his biggest competition.

Here's another comment on him: "Thursday MVP RJ Harris Yes,yes,yes... I know it's early, far to early to anoint Harris as this year's Willie Snead, however that's exactly what he looked like today. He was all over the field catching everything thrown his way. His routes were crisp, his hands were excellent and his body control was impressive. He made catches in traffic and used his speed to separate from defenders. Again, we'll see how he builds on todays performance, but if he keeps it up he's a lock top make this team."

Jesus dude, go outside or something. There's more to life than what the saints jerseys look like.

Well not sure how DE will shake out with Jordan, Kikaha, Richardson, Edebali, Gwacham, Onyemata, and Tull all fighting for spots there.
welp.. its a good thing that we have depth.

The more I keep looking at our receiving options, the more I keep asking myself if there room for Coleman.

Coleman is our 5th WR at worst imo.

Great to hear, but Brees is always optimistic after OTA's every offseason..

I hated last year's draft. I warmed up to it over the season a bit, but still don't like it (ignoring undrafted Breaux). But I fricking LOVE this draft class. Thomas played in a system that didn't give the WR's any love. He's going to be really good for us. He'll have to work his arse off to beat out Snead in most 2 WR sets, but he'll end up being a steal. Doctson and Coleman were the top 2 WR's of the draft, but Thomas was in the next tier along with 3 or 4 other players. He'll have a better career than forum favorite Treadwell.

Those collars on the damn jerseys are one of the reasons I have yet to buy a saints jersey since I bought a Darren Sproles one back in '11

Peat was a little ehh, but you have to like Anthony and Kikaha. They are solid building blocks which is what we need. That being said, this draft was definitely a draft that is worth being excited about. Rankins is a perfect fit for us, Thomas was a steal (potentially) that late and Bell seems like a replacement for Byrd.

I think Peat might wind up being the best player from that draft.

They are horrible, and only still used by below average teams.

Grayson solid: Grayson looks much more comfortable than last season. You can see his growth. He made a very nice throw to R.J. Harris late in the practice down the sideline. Both he and Luke McCown were almost picked off at different points, but you can see Grayson’s growth.

Love this

That was my favorite part.

He actually looked pretty good towards the end of last season.

exactly my point. We run so many 3-4 WR sets that whether he is the #4 or #5, he will see the field.

Deshazier says Coleman will be our #2 over Thomas

I like Deshazier but I don't trust his opinion on actual football matters. I used to read his articles back in the day and while they are very well put together and you can tell he puts thought into his work, he just doesn't seem to really know football more than a casual fan.

Coleman couldn't even be any better than fourth most of last year, only moving ahead of Colston in small doses.

Cooks is "one" and Snead is "two". Coleman is at best the third guy at receiver but I don't see him staying ahead of Thomas for long. That may be over with by training camp.

But while I'm not big on Coleman taking on any more than a 30 catch role I'm also not crazy enough to ignore how much Payton likes him and will give him every chance to keep that fourth receiver spot.

If someone wants that spot they are going to have to go Snead in preseason.
