Anyone seen an idea of how much Browner wants?
He's only made slightly above league minimum at most thus far in his career.
He has to come at a cheap price. He's suspended 4 games and his attitude is a question mark...that being said, I'd love to sign him to a cheap 1 year deal. He's a very good #2 corner

I have a hard time seeing us offering him better than the Pats or Redskins..
The redskins will offer more money, and the Pats are probably the only team outside of us, Seattle and SF that have more of a "winning culture" at this point in time. So we don't really have any leverage over either of those guys if they offer him.

Do want. The suspension thing isnt a big deal IMO. It would be if he was an expensive signing and would be coming in as a #1CB... but hes not. And we have experienced guys that can fill in for the 1st 4 weeks.
And yes hes a perfect fit for Rob Ryans D. Big, physical, can play against the run and the pass, and size wise can match up with any WR in the game. With his size and length, he doesnt need that much help on the deep balls because. And we do play against guys like Julio Jones, Roddy White, and VJax 2x a year.
And he wouldnt be the nickel, or the #2NB. KV was the nickel this past year, and the signing of Byrd and development of Bush allows us to use KV in that roaming role even more.
Browner would be a great addition.
He is def the type of player Rob Ryan wants, and would fit in great with the type of D we are building, especially our DBs. Wont back down and plays with an attitude that you need on D.

How good is he when he is not on the stuff?. I'm assuming all of his highlights are induced by roid rage.

No. He's 6'4", 220. He's a cornerback with the size of a linebacker. He hits like a freight train.

Browner at CB and Bush at safety = Saints season record set for cart-offs

And he failed a drug test for a non PED. Supposedly it was marijuana. But it wasnt a PED.

You know that thing called bounty gate?
those two could actually successfully do it.

Sign him to a 1 year deal only for him to miss the first 4 games? Idk about that
He is a baller though, love his attitude on the field

Wasn't he considered like one of the best CB's in the league before he got caught doing PED's ??
Posted on 3/13/14 at 7:42 pm to iAmThatMan
Yes. He's still one of the best corners in the league after getting caught doing PED's. I hope we can get him. Signing him for more than just 1 year would be great imo.

Yep.... in 2011 he was 3rd in passes defender, 2nd in INTs, and had 5 TDs.
And his last failed drug test was for a non PED. The NFLs initial statement said PEDs, then they went and retracted it and just said he failed a drug test. Its been accepted by a lot of sources and news outlets that it was for marijuana.
Plus, the reason why he is in the Stage 3 drug program is sketchy as well. He failed his 1st drug test in like 2005, then was cut by the Broncos and went and played in Canada. The NFL penalized him for missing notifications for drug testing when he wasnt even playing in the NFL. Which is why he was placed in the Stage 3 drug program, and why he won his appeal on the year long suspension.

No
Just was a big fan of him in 2011. And the whole drug test and suspension thing has been interesting, because the NFL punished him for not taking NFL mandated drug test, even though he wasnt in the NFL. And he won the appeal for that. And i hate when people slander someone when they arent familiar with the situation and what not.
But yea he would most def be a great signing and a great fit here.

Brandon Browner is with the Redskins tonight and in to tomorrow. If no deal materializes there he moves on to New Orleans

Loomis? More like Boomis if he signs Browner too.
Posted on 3/13/14 at 9:06 pm to THRILLHO
Honestly with DRC and Thurmond likely out of our price range and any other corner being more of a stop gap, Browner could be a really good, cheap 1-2 year stop gap.

Exactly. He fits in great with the type of D we are building here. Has experience playing in this type of system. And would be a great guy to play for a few seasons while we develop a younger CB.
