I say OKC is prob better than those Spurs by a smidgeon. Those Lakers would beat these Spurs handily. 5 or 6 games. Also, I'd take that Celts team over the Heat this year.

yeah because hard numbers are too hard for you to understand right?

I fully understand them, they don't account for pace. To favor the "hard numbers" over a better measure like points per possession tells me more than I need to know about your basketball acumen.

who knows what #s you are using dud? You def aren't using the offensive and defensive efficiency #s.

you want efficiency numbers instead of ppg numbers, fine.

CP3's 07-08: 5th/7th - 111.5/105.7: +5.8

07-08 BOS (10th/1st - 110.2/98.9: +11.3)
07-08 LAL (3rd/5th - 113/105.5: +7.5)
07-08 SAS (15th/3rd - 107.2/101.8: +5.4)
07-08 DAL (8th/9th - 111.1/106.1: +5.0)

or

CP3's 13-14: 1st/9th - 112.1/104.8: +7.3

13-14 MIA (5th/11th - 110.9/105.8: +5.1)
13-14 SAS (7th/3rd - 110.5/102.4: +8.1)
13-14 OKC (6th/6th - 110.5/103.9: +6.6)
13-14 GSW (12th/4th - 107.5/102.6: +4.9)

Beating MIA this year is easier than beating Boston, I never argued against that.

But beating GS, OKC, SAS is a lot harder this year than it would be going through DAL, SAS, and LAL that yaer.

and if LAL is coasting, what do you call playing your starters 20mpg and still winning. Dumb luck?

odom 38mpg
gasol 34mpg
bynum 29mpg

this is coasting.

Parker 29mpg
Duncan 29mpg
Leonard 29mpg
Ginobili 23mpg

sure, I played your game of using efficiency numbers as well just to prove a point even further. both ortg/drtg AND hard ppg numbers to show you he had a better shot to even get to the finals in 07-08 than this year. Winning it all was never going to happen this year or that year. But at least getting there would've given them a shot. This year they have 0 chance of getting past OKC and SAS if those are the two teams they end up facing. I'll paypal you $100 if they do.

but continue on crying on a forum, its pretty funny. I hope you have a box of kleenex when portland beats you in round 1. I'll fedex you one if you're too poor though.

How old are YOU? Too young to remember what a beast CP3 was back in the day? This CP3 is a shell of his former self for those of us that saw him before the knee injury.

That Hornets team had a shot against the Lakers, especially if they had gotten by a veteran team like SAS and closed out a game 7 against an experienced championship team. That would have been huge for their experience level moving forward in the playoffs.

Do yourself a favor and go look up CP3 highlights from that season on Youtube before opening your flappy gums again.

He's a houston fan remember? he didn't watch CP3.

ETA: no they had no shot! lakers were coasting in the whole season. their best players were only playing 34+mpg.

No, that Lakers team was legit. Pau/Bynum/Kobe/Odom in their prime.

CP3 in his PRIME though. IDK. Anything could have happened. The Lakers were not the defensive team SAS were. CP3 did average 23/15 on them in the regular season, and we did split the season series. We woulda gotten spanked by Boston though. That's a nightmare matchup.

So you admit you couldnt beat the lakers or Celtics but you didnt even get to play those teams because you couldnt get out of the 2nd rd, yet you are claiming that the team was a contender? Am I reading this right? Can't be.

"Contend" defined by merriam-webster: to compete with a good chance of winning

Pelsessed. You're team is on the verge of getting bounced in the 1st round and you're on PT arguing hypotheticals. Noice.

Was thinking about that magical season earlier this morning while bored at work.

Magical season? Why do people look so fondly on that team as if they made it to the Finals? Being eliminated in the second round is not an accomplishment, especially when you had a 3-2 lead with game 7 at home. CP3 gets killed for the fact he never made the Conference Finals all the time. Hell, even Carmello has done it. The Hornets/Pelians are also one of the few teams to not even have made the Conference Finals while expansion teams like the Wolves, Magic, Grizzles, and Heat all have since the team was formed. I'd argue the Dave Cowens' Hornets team that lost the semi-finals in game 7 was a better team than the 08 team.
