when do we start blaming the coaching staff? If we don't improve next year?

I may be alone on this, but sometimes I feel that monty doesn't have his head on right during the second half at times.

It might make sense if he believes this season might just go into tank-mode to develop the bench players. I know he's a pretty good defensive mind, but all night I saw late rotations to defend and left people open for triples all night.

It was just pretty sickening to watch us get no offensive rhythm going when EG10 sits down and have austin rivers "attempt" to drive left and lose the ball, throw up a random shot, or just get purely destroyed and manhandled instead of playing the point and getting his team involved. I felt it was purely him trying to play iso all night and throw up some bad shots instead of looking for a team-mate. the latest one was lin on jason smith under the goal and he decides to dribble the time away and passed it with 3 seconds left on the shot clock. maybe I'm wrong, but we seem like a middle of a pack defense with a craptastic offense that won't get far with monty leading the reins.

I'm sure it's personnel too because our players aren't VERY good, but when is it that we can legitimately blame monty for offensive woes and bad player management (latest two examples were today and against GSW)

Coaching isn't the problem, yet. We don't have the talent nor the experience to play our best every night. I think it shows how good of a coach MW is when he took this team and won 9 games in the last month.

I'll give you coaching against the spurs, but thus was an effort loss tonight. Monty is one of the best coaches in the NBA. This team is on the right track but can't fall apart on this road stretch. We'll go 3-2 I think.

That was a big deal and I'll agree that showed in how the players meshed well along with coaching, and it felt like EG10 sparked everyone.

But the last few games, even with certain players having great starts, I feel that he sits them longer then necessary even when we have a decent cushion and our reserves just slowly lets the opposing team catch up. By the time he puts them back in those hot hands have cooled off and it's playing catch up.

Today our "3rd quarter squad" was playing pretty horrible and it seemed everytime they had a jolt of morale, they would make a critical mistake: bad rotation, unnecessary fouls, unnecessary turnovers, etc. and then houston would be back up 15 instead of like 10. Even with those issues, I don't think he changed the line-up to start the 4th quarter and didn't put our "best" players back out until too late.

Oh, and our bench has been pretty damn good lately.

EG has had some pretty stupid turnovers last 3 games, btw.

Just wait. If we have the same problem in a year, than you can blame Monty.

I don't blame Monty yet. But I don't know where guys keep getting this from. There is nothing to back that up. He has been coaching for less than 10 years and is only in his 3rd year as a head coach. I hope it gets better, but that is a bold thing to say.

It is a pretty rough 5 game road trip. All 5 teams are pretty desperate for wins. As long as they beat the Lakers I'll be happy..

Team looked like they were coasting most of the game. No on court leadership, terrible shot selection and very little effort to crash boards and go after offensive rebounds. Why didn't Lopez and Gordon play much? Was Vasquez hurt?

Monty is the best thing the hornets have going for them, IMO. I'd never trade our GM for yours. Or harden for Gordon. But would take Monty in a heartbeat.

I support Monty and think he's a very good coach. That said, his "rotations", if you can call them that, puzzle and frustrate me at times. On the other hand, that precise criticism has been leveled at every coach that's been here (probably at every coach in the NBA) when things aren't working. Plus, it's not as if Monty has a lot to work with. Half of his roster should rarely see the court or even be on any NBA roster.

Which makes it so baffling when he sits Vasquez and Gordon together for so long.

I honestly can't say that I know he is a great coach, but people who follow the game of basketball really closely, and have great knowledge of it, think he's one of the better coaches....so thats enough for me.

Ok. Any of these great basketball minds would explain why Monty is this great coach, I'd love to be enlightened. And don't come at me with coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Young coach and young team. There's still a lot of growth left. What makes Williams great is his ability to have the guys play hard night in and might out. His development of Smith, Aminu, and Vasquez can't be overlooked. People forget that he has to rely on guys like Roberts, Rivers as a rookie project, Henry, and Thomas off the bench.

We're on pace to win about 30 wins which is exactly where most optimistic people were projecting. Progress is there.

You should probably back down from this argument because it's not going to go well.
