Yea it would probably be tough to get Jrue to sit but if they are hell bent on resigning him then you are going to have to give him whatever he wants

Like I said, AD needs to break his left hand, or finger. Something that isn't serious at all, but would make him have to sit out the rest of the season

Benson as the owner should have a meeting and sit down with both Jrue and AD and provide a vision going forward. Once the vision is laid out and they are on board with the tanking initiative, routinely "rest" them for the games where we are favored to win. Those "rest" games would likely turn into losses and the difficult games we'll lose anyway. The team needs help and they need to get another good draft pick along with a splash in free agency to start turning this around.

He is gonna bust in the NBA anyway. Dude ceiling is Lou Williams. Still don't understand why people want him

Again, I don't understand why you are underrating Lou Williams like that, he has won 6th man of the year and is a very efficient player
And Malik Monk is much more athletic, bigger, and Monk can also play PG or SG at times in the NBA which is valuable

I'd argue more that Williams may be more of his floor than his ceiling

That would never, ever happen. Jrue isn't going to rest as he heads into FA and Anthony Davis couldn't possibly care less about what pick they are getting next June

Benson's "vision" is to win a championship as he's said many times. He has no vision on team building. His proxy, Mickey Loomis, recently downplayed his role in building this dumpster fire. He's an absentee POBO. The "visionaries" for this team are likely Demps/Gentry/Erman/Ferry in no particular order.

Well do you think the only way that Demps would trade Jrue would be if he got an unbelievable return for him

I don't see anything in Demps' history that makes me think he'd trade him unless he got an unbelievable offer from someone else. Something like the CJ McCollum trade MM posed.

As for everyone's hope of trading Holiday for tanking purposes, the only way that would happen would be if in the next week Joe Dumars was announced as Demps' replacement/boss and he didn't plan to resign Holiday.

So basically we are screwed and will get a pick somewhere in the 6-10 range and trade the pick for someone who doesn't move the needle

I think Dell now knows it will take a max to keep Jrue and that has honestly scared him a bit. I think there is a small chance he actually moves Jrue. But yes, it will take a nice haul

Almost sounds like a recipe for disaster. If he knows (or thinks that), he needs to be willing to do it or trade him now. We cannot lose him for nothing.

I don't know what would be worse- losing him for nothing or signing him for 5/150. Both terrible IMO

Which is why trading him now seems like the only answer. Trade him tank the rest of this season and go get a vet pg in the offseason like Rubio or maybe someone like Jeff Teague and trade the pick for someone like jimmy butler and still have cap space to fill out the roster

I think once they are eliminated from the playoffs you could maybe convince AD to shut it down

We might not be eliminated until the last week of the season. Can't wait that long to ease up.

Yep- the best thing that could have happened to us would have been Denver or Portland going on a Miami type winning streak but nobody is pulling away with 8th and that is killing us

It would have been nice, but I think you'll see Denver start breaking away, and Portland will follow, and it will be those two teams fighting for that last spot. I think they'll break away a bit in the next 3 weeks.

Double edged sword there. You may get Dell to trade Jrue, but that's no given and you still have AD playing. The fact that no one is pulling away prevents other teams from tanking who may be more efficient at losing than us.

Would not be bad, but do not see Minny giving up both for a player on last year of contract.
