I'm talking about when we get the ball with, say 35 seconds left in a quarter and we try to get a FG before 24 seconds are left so we are pretty much guaranteed a shot at the last shot of a quarter.

But now we never try for those. Do you think these situations are ever discussed in practice? Do you think Monty knows what a two-for-one is?

Honestly, not a troll question.

Its talked about a lot.
My opinion, I think its a couple different things. I don't think Monty totally trusts our guys to get a good shot in a 2 for 1 situation. And secondly, the ball's usually in Tyreke, Jrue, or Austin's hands. Tyreke and Austin aren't guys the can pull up for a 3, for example, which is often the first shot in the 2 for 1. Jrue can actually do it, but just usually isn't aggressive enough, offensively

Interesting, because Chris Paul almost always drove to the basket in 2 for 1 situations.

No CPs here anymore

We're really reliant on the pick and roll. Its like our guys come down court still looking for Davis/Asik/Ryno for a pnr, even in those 2 for 1 situations. By the time its set, its too late.

I've said it before, but the explanation is as follows:

"frick advantageous lineup rotations, frick 2 for 1 opportunities and frick you." - Code of Montyball

He a sharp that follows the NBA closely, and made a comment on Twitter tonight about the Pels getting the ball with 40 seconds to go and not going for the 2 for 1.

Joel and David made mention of it on the broadcast. I still can't figure out why they don't. Everyone else does. Maybe that's it!

It's like every single time. Joel and David mention it every time, and each time, it's like the guys who SHOULD know, don't.

Even worse, it was actually 44-45 seconds. You almost have to intentionally not 2 for 1.

Because he's one of the smartest players in the league.

Monty...not so much.

a lot of times it's not worthwhile: you end up with 2 rushed possessions instead of 1 good one.
Further, you give the opponent a full possession. If you take your possession, you could give them a rushed one instead and make it 1 full v. their rushed.

What do you think the percentages are on rushed possessions? Like 30-35%? The percentages on a normal possession are probably around 50%. Ill take the 2 chances given those numbers all day long.

Also, the opponent may get an offensive rebound, creating their own 2-for-1.

Monty's decision was absolutely correct. We won.
