Landry is worth a lot more than Kwame and a 2nd rounder considering both contracts are expiring, and frick giving up a lottery pick just to dump Oak. Glad we didn't trade just to trade. The truth is, we really have nothing of value except expiring contracts and you can't expect to get too much for an expiring.

Why is Landry worth more than that? He is worth nothing to us at all. He has 20 more games with us and then he expires. A 2nd rounder is better than nothing.

A 2nd rounder = nothing 90% of the time, imo. I'd rather see the FO develop a reputation as not being a pushover (much like Loomis has a reputation as being fair but not paying more than market value). There probably not a single realistic trade out there that would have significantly improved the team.

ETA: Actually, it may mean more for this front office going forward to give the finger to teams offering dogshit for Kaman, Okafor or Ariza.

I started reading this thread from the beginning and this is by far the best statement I've read. People are so concerned about making trades when the best ones out there are lateral moves at best.

It's certainly better than trading a 1st for Bayless

The results of that trade were not as bad as you think they were. We used him to do two important things, unload Peja's contract and pick up Jarrett Jack.

As for the pick:
quote:

The pick Portland is set to receive is top-7 protected in 2011 and top-8 protected in 2012, 2013 and 2014. After that, it would turn into two second-round picks in 2015 and 2016.

It turned out to be the 19th pick in last year's draft, which was used on Tobias Harris. Say it along with me: "Who?" I would not trade Jarrett Jack straight up for Tobias Harris. Norris Cole is the only solid contributor drafted after that pick.

From Wikipedia:

quote:

On February 23, 2011, the Charlotte Bobcats acquired Joel Przybilla, Dante Cunningham, Sean Marks, New Orleans' 2011 first-round draft pick, Portland's 2013 conditional first-round draft pick and cash considerations from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Gerald Wallace. Previously, on October 23, 2010, the Blazers acquired a 2011 first-round draft pick from the New Orleans Hornets in exchange for Jerryd Bayless
